Could This Be the Most Offensive Commercial Ever? (VIDEO)

OMG 14

Mountain Dew is coming under fire for creating "the most racist commercial in history." Woah. That's not something companies generally try for with their commercials. I'd have to add "most misogynist" to that title, too. The commercial depicts a white woman in a neck brace who is limping on crutches and has obviously been beat up, looking through a lineup of black men for the one who beat her. The "joke" is supposed to be that a goat high on Mountain Dew really did it. The goat is also in the lineup. The goat makes a series of threats to the woman, who then becomes too intimidated to pick him out of the lineup, and she runs off. The detective with her shrugs and drinks his soda. I guess this is supposed to be funny?

The first thing that's pretty crazy is that you've got a blonde, white woman looking over a lineup of all black male perps. I'm sure this happens in real life sometimes, but it generally doesn't happen on TV anymore! Remember those days when every single criminal on TV or in the movies was black? Well, I'm old enough to remember those days. Let's hope they don't come back.

Then you've got the woman who has been abused, beat up, sexually assaulted, who knows what. The perp -- a goat -- threatens her with "urbanspeak" (??) phrases like, "Ya better not snitch on a playa," and "Snitches get stitches." Finally he just stares at her saying, "Keep your mouth shut, keep your mouth shut ... " until she runs off terrified.

Great, so now it's funny to show a woman with a bloodied face being threatened by -- a goat? I guess that makes it okay? Actually, it doesn't. There are too many women in this world who are terrified of men who abused them -- black and white. You have to be out of touch with reality to think this is funny in any way. I have a dark sense of humor, but this didn't tickle my funny bone in the slightest.

The commercial was made by Odd Future artist Tyler, The Creator. It was removed from Odd Future's YouTube channel and Mountain Dew's website after complaints. Whodathunk anyone would complain about this?! Shocker!

There's a thin line between satire and offensive stupidity, and unfortunately this ad never really got close to the satire side. I'd also like to speak up for the poor goat. This ad is not only racist and sexist, but goatist!

Check out the commercial. What do you think?

I think people are being overly sensitive. I see nothing wrong with this ad. If they were all white people no one would bat an eye. That's why in those security commericals the robber is always white because they know if they featured a black person, the race card will be played just like it was for this commerical.

I think they commerical is trashy because it shows violence against women which is nothign to laugh about.

I agree with LostSoul88. The commercial is not right for showing violence against women, not the lineup of black men. Everyone is too sensitive about skin color and immediately jumps to the racist issue.

It would be a different story if the 3 guys were just random, but they are all members of the same rap group.

Itsa stupid commercial, but people are overreacting.

Caera Caera

I don't think it's offensive. It's really stupid, though.

It was one of the most irritating commercials I've ever seen that's for sure.

of COURSE it's offensive! do none of you know who Tyler The Creator is? he's all ABOUT offensive! and he's black. people are ridiculous. the fact that it was made by him only shows why it's a stupid commercial. i love his stuff, and this has him written all over it. people need to get over themselves

I'd also like to add that you're an idiot for making an article about this. Tyler the Creator is weird and so why get all hufy puffy when this shit is his style?

Sorry, but it made a chuckle a bit. Considering that the creator is a black man I don't see the racism part and the goat was funny. I have been a victim of both sexually and physical abuse but I still have a sense of humor, might be a little dark and twisted but oh well.
