Running the U.S.A. is serious business, but that doesn't mean presidents can't have a little fun. Or occasionally be seen as more than just the Commander-in-Chief, Chief Executive, or leader of the free world. And by more I mean being seen as ... sexy! Entertainment Tonight believes the term applies to President Obama, and when they had First Lady Michelle Obama on the show last night, they couldn't help but get her take on that description. Specifically, they asked what it's like to be married to a "sex symbol." Ha! (Well, they aren't exactly known for their hard-hitting journalism, right ...)
FLOTUS' response was, in a word, classic!
Mrs. Obama said of her husband:
He's got a little swag, you know. That's OK. I mean, I'm proud of him. He's a stylish, I think, man who is healthy and he's smart and he's passionate and he's inspiring. And who wouldn't fall in love with that, you know?
Uh, yeah! Hello! She nailed it. Though she probably should have mentioned that being one of most powerful people on the planet is super-sexy to boot. But she doesn't necessarily see her husband that way. Those other traits are more important to her, and yeah, they're all true, and they're all pretty spot-on characteristics of a sex symbol!
I also love how cool Michelle was with the question. The office of the POTUS is one we don't necessarily associate with sex appeal on a daily basis. In fact, I'm sure it probably makes some people rather uncomfortable to think of their president as "sexy." Like that's a trait we should reserve for actors who play vampires on TV or in movies instead. But that's silly. Sexy is an culmination of other traits, like the ones FLOTUS listed. And President Obama's got those traits in spades!
Here's the interview if you missed it ...
