Being that every day the news is riddled with stories of horrific violence and tragic loss, some of us have come to think of our homes as the one true safe haven; the only place we can remain unscathed. But sadly, for some, that isn't the case. A 1-year-old was hit by a bullet while he was comfortably sitting in his grandmother's arms inside their home on Thursday. The little boy was shot in the neck by a stray bullet after a gunman fired multiple shots in their Northern Californian neighborhood. He's currently in the hospital in serious but stable condition, and a special place in hell has been erected for the evil person who did this.
It seems like there are an awful lot of stories these days about innocent children and babies who haven't hurt a fly getting seriously injured or killed, because they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. An 8-year-old girl hit by a stray arrow from a crossbow. A 6-month-old shot and killed while she sits in a minivan with her dad. A 13-month old shot in the head while his mother pushes him in his stroller. This has to stop. Violence against anyone is awful, but when children are involved, it's a completely different beast.
I'm really not sure how this little boy could have been protected from something like this. He was inside a home in his grandmother's arms. Who would ever think something so heinous would happen under those circumstances? Yes, they were in a high-crime rate area, but perhaps they don't have much of a choice in where to live. What are they supposed to do?
Hopefully, they catch the animal who did this and justice is served. Although, when you think about it, what is justice when a small child is shot?
What do you think of this?
