Oh, that Jodi Arias. She's a wily one! And by "wily," I mean flat-out coo coo for Cocoa Puffs. Not only did she kill her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, by shooting him, slitting his throat, AND stabbing him 27 times, but she's done everything in her power to blame the whole thing on HIM. So this latest turn of events should come as no real surprise. Jodi allegedly tried to tamper with a witness and get him or her to lie for her. And the way she did it was kind of ingenious, if I do say so myself.
Reportedly, Jodi passed along two magazines from her jail cell to a good friend of hers, who has visited her every week in the pokey. Now that's a true friend! The magazines, Star and Digital Photo Pro, caught the attention of jail staff, who confiscated them. It is kinda weird to give magazines to a pal visiting you in jail, isn't it?
Anyway, reportedly the magazines contained some lightly pencilled numbers in the bindings -- and the numbers corresponded to different pages in the magazine. And then, somehow, someone, somewhere was able to piece together that the words on the written numbers' corresponding pages actually could be strung together to form a message. This girl shoulda been in the CIA!
The message reportedly read:
You f***ed up what you told my attorney the next day / directly contradicts what I've been saying for over a year / get down here ASAP and see me before you talk to them again and before / you testify so / we can fix this / interview was excellent! Must talk ASAP!
Sheesh, Jodi still thinks she's calling the shots around here. The prosecutor, Juan Martinez, grilled Jodi on the stand about the alleged message. It's unclear who the message was meant for.
"You tried to get someone to lie on the stand, didn't you?" he asked. "No," she replied. You didn't think she'd fess up, did you?
No telling what this witness tampering might add to the case against Jodi. I guess when you're already on trial for murder and facing the death penalty, you figure you've got nothing to lose.
What do you think of Jodi's latest antics?
