Baby Reportedly Kidnapped by Woman the Mom Knew & Her Reasons Are Desperately Sad

This Just In 38

Carlos OrozcoA missing boy has been found less than a day after he was kidnapped. Even better, 8-month-old Carlos Orozco is doing just fine now that he's back with his mom.

The case out of Minneapolis is not what we're used to hearing at the end of abduction stories. But thank goodness, right? It certainly puts a different spin on how we think of kidnappers.

We tend to think of them all as monsters. Clearly, someone who steals a child away from his (or her) mother is doing something wrong.

And yet, when a child is unharmed, we have to look at that as a win, don't we? I dare say we even need to look at why it is that these children have the better outcomes.

Minneapolis cops have arrested Isabell Diaz Castillo, a woman Carlos' mom has known for just about a month, and charged her with kidnapping and burglary charges. Castillo, who has a 12-year-old son, was reportedly showing an "inordinate amount" of attention to little Carlos when she was around him, even buying him clothes. According to one relative, the little guy reminded Castillo of a child she miscarried.

Put it that way, and I don't know what I feel about her. Sympathy? Not quite. She allegedly put Victoria Orozco through hell. This poor mom went to take a shower, came out, and her baby was gone.

But a woman mourning a miscarriage is a far cry from some sick pervert who plans to do God knows what with a child. We don't have to be sympathetic or approve of the crime to see the difference.

It would be a perfect world if children were never kidnapped. But if it happens (and sadly, it does), the best case scenario is that it's by someone who is doing it because they care for the child, someone who WILL care for the child.

What do you think should happen with the alleged kidnapper here?

she still deserves to be locked up. Regardless the baby wasn't STILL MAKES IT A CRIME.  im glad she seemed to want to care for the baby instead of harming him but still. what she did was wrong and she deserves to be punished. You cant just going around kidnapping children just because they remind u of a child you lost. it just isnt right. LOCK HER UP BEFORE SHE DOES IT AGAIN!

The same thing that would happen to a kidnapper who randomly decided to take a child. The justice system isn't about who has the saddest sob story. And besides, I'm a little unsure of how she could be reminded of a child that was never born. It sounds like emotional bs intended to get her a lighter sentence. She did the crime, now it's time to do the time.

What is it with you, Jeanne Sager, and your need to sympathize with people who do horrible things to children?

It's sad she lost a child, but knowing how that feels she decides to take another woman's child away? That's not a valid excuse.

How does a specific baby remind you of a child you miscarried? I've miscarried a few times and no clue what those babies would have looked like, certainly not enough for another baby to mind me of him/her.

What Cass and Floridamom said. Lock the bish up. And have her poor son evaluated, because he may be emotionally damaged from living with a kook.

She's not an "alleged" kidnapper.. she IS a kidnapper. Regardless of the reason, she needs to be punished so this sort of thing doesn't keep happening whenever a woman is grieving the loss of a baby.

Nope, no sympathy here.  I don't want to risk any other mother having to go through this hell if we let her go.  Maybe it wouldn't happen, maybe it would.  Not worth the risk.  I'm all for second chances, but this does not qualify.

There is no sympathy for a kidnapper, please stop writing and think about it for a moment..

If she knows how it feels to lose a child that she should understand how that mother felt when she stole her child. I have lost two babies. Twins actually and I never thought of stealing a friends child!
