‘The Pilgrims Were Illegal Aliens’?!? Your Tax Dollars Are Paying to Spread This Malarkey (VIDEO)

Say What!? 34

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) hosted a mandatory ‘sensitivity training’ in the summer of 2011 for its employees. OK, no harm, no foul so far. We do need to be sensitive to one another, and if you’re going to work for the government, and therefore represent the government, there should be some training involved for sensitive issues.

However, this training session had nothing to do with sensitivity, unless by sensitivity, you mean insulting the pilgrims. Video was finally released this week of the so-called “Cultural Sensitivity Training” program, and the footage is ... well, let’s just say it’s disconcerting at best.

The head of the USDA, Tom Vilsack, sent a memo to all department employees describing the training as part of a “new era of civil rights.” It was led by self-proclaimed “citizen of the world” Samuel Betances on USDA premises. In 2011 and 2012, the federal government paid Betances and his firm nearly $200,000 for taking part in the “cultural transformation” program.

So what was this great cultural training for sensitivity all about and what does it have to do with the pilgrims? Betances asked the participants (remember attendance was mandatory for all USDA employees) to chant, “The pilgrims were illegal aliens.”

So that happened. Our government spent $200,000 of taxpayer money to compare people that break the law by entering our country illegally to the brave pioneers that risked everything to come to a new world for religious freedom, democracy, and prosperity.

Look, we can have a real discussion about the big old mess that is our current system of immigration. Fact of the matter is that we do need reform -- big time. But spewing nonsense about how the pilgrims were illegal aliens because they “never gave their passports to the Indians” is ridiculous.

In fact, you could even argue that that phrase itself was culturally insensitive. They were Native Americans, not Indians. Indians come from India. Get your cultures right, USDA.

Do you think this cultural sensitivity training was insensitive?

This thread is evidence of a severely corrupted education system. Do not let the public school system get its hands on your children or they'll end up like these mal-educated ignoramuses.

Way to COMPLETELY miss the point, people.

Let's change the wording a little bit... "I want you to say, "Thank you WHITE people"" "White people made this a good place to live"

This guy would have been thrown out on his ass, and the USDA would be under about sixteen federal investigations if these people were REQUIRED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to chant that kind of crap in order to keep their jobs.

This is COMPLETELY racist and absolutely out of line.

Wow that's insane, and totally offensive. I can't believe that , and in our sue happy country I can't believe no one has sued yet over this. If I were an employee I would have definately written a letter of complaint.

The brave people who killed all the indigenous people living in this country to settle in this new country and not letting the indigenous people in (Mexican and most of the Latino are the actual indigenous people of the us) sorry to tell you that, you are the "alien" not the Mexican guy descendent of a precolumbian tribe

Not all illegal immigrants are mexican they come from south america as well, but most cross mexico borders. And comparing pilgrims to welfare takers is not justified. Were talking about modern day now, the united states and mexico are now 2 different countries. Each with established governments. We can only take responsibility for what is done now not what happen 500 years ago. This country is going under because we are taking on needy people from other countries. Too many people taking and not paying taxes. Most people can defend this because they do not see it in their neighborhood. When your denied employment because you dont speak spanish and everyone around you cant feed their families but continue to have 5 or 6 kids, you will think twice.

Anybody else check her sources? My favorite thing about Jenny's articles is throwing whatever it is she's on about into a Google search and seeing all the Fox, Daily Mail, Before It's News, Breitbart, InfoWars, Glenn Beck (who is getting terrifically fat) etc... and nothing else. She does good by her job, though, I suppose. Always stirring up the mindless bullshit and trying to masquerade it as important.

"Technically they were not illegal aliens since there were no laws, duh"  Sounds like an argument a 12 year old would spout. The Pilgrims were not nice people. I agree with Sally on this one- lets not pretend it was some righteous endeavor.

Haha this is just too good. So the only 'legal' laws [gotta love that] are only the ones passed by us, in a gov't that 'works' like ours [gotta love that even more]? Got it. So all those other 1000 year old tribal laws and self-governance before us just don't count, huh? I'll bet you kept your Plymouth Landing and First Thanksgiving Re-enactment costumes from kindergarten. One of the few truly entertaining posts to come along in awhile. Thanks!

Hello all

Just have to comment the Native Americans who were here prior to the pilgrims coming here had established governments which were not recognized by the pilgrims. In that sense both pilgrims and illegal aliens are essentially the same the only difference being that Native Americans many of whom were my ancestors welcomed the pilgrims into the country even teaching them how to cultivate certain crops so that they would not starve to death. Only to be thanked later with a myriad of atrocities from those pilgrims.
