Even before yesterday's Inauguration Day festivities kicked off, I just knew former President Bill Clinton was bound to make headlines. We should know very well by now that Big Dog can't go anywhere without somehow -- intentionally or inadvertently -- becoming the center of attention. (Anyone remember the DNC?) This time, I'm pretty sure it was completely unintentional. And it happened in the blink of an eye. Yesterday, when Kelly Clarkson took the podium to sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee," ol' Bill stuck his head out from behind someone else in the audience, and in a screen grab of the moment, it looked like a total photobomb! Ha!
After Doug Gordon, who describes himself as a Brooklyn documentary TV producer, noticed the silly moment, he posted the image to Twitter, and of course, it took off like a rocket, getting re-posted on Twitter and Reddit, making way for a bazillion jokes ...
'Course most of them hinted at the Monica Lewinsky scandal or Clinton's former Lothario-ish ways (i.e., "I'd tap that," "I will have sexual relations with that woman!", "Did somebody say new interns?"). Ha ha, yes, making fun of Bill's womanizing is always a riot, and this was clearly the best opportunity to do that since we couldn't stop laughing about "binders full of women"!
But for real, it was no Marilyn Monroe-JFK moment. When you see it actually play out -- as opposed to seeing it in still frame -- it really does just look like the 66-year-old former president was just trying to get a better glimpse at what was going on. Even if what was going on was an attractive young woman preparing to perform.
Here's the full clip in which you see Bill pop his head out (at around 5 seconds in), and then Kelly performs ...
What do you think was running through President Clinton's head here?
