Obama Uses Kids to Further His Gun Control Agenda

On Wednesday, President Obama surrounded himself with cute kids to make a speech about gun control and how guns that hold more than 10 bullets are evil, and anyone that says otherwise obviously hates children. And puppies. Then he signed an executive order that is totally going to prevent bad people from doing bad things. He also said that any pundit that disagrees with him is doing so for “monetary gain.”

Or something like that. He didn’t specifically mention puppies, but he did imply that people who do not see the wisdom in his 23-point executive order to limit gun violence in America must not care about the children. It’s always about the children.

Here’s the thing: Second Amendment advocates care about the children too, but don’t parade them around to evoke an emotional reaction to accomplish a political end. President Obama could have just as easily said, “In order to protect our children, we need to put armed guards on every school campus, just like my daughters’ school. That way every parent can feel as safe as I do about the protection of their children.” It’s for the children, you know.

He didn’t though -- he used them to illustrate the need to do things like ban magazines that hold more than 10 bullets and require more stringent background checks. Unfortunately, none of that would’ve prevented the Sandy Hook tragedy, but it makes people feel better to think that maybe something could have stopped it from happening.

Tragedy happens because evil exists. There will always be an Adam Lanza, and no amount of trampling on law-abiding citizens’ Constitutional rights is going to change that. Lanza did not use a legally acquired weapon, so how is creating more laws going to stop someone in the future from doing the same thing?

Side note: I have no idea why liberals want to outlaw what they term ‘assault rifles’ but not handguns. Of the 8,583 people murdered by firearms in 2011, handguns killed 6,220 of them. Only 323 of them were killed by a shot fired from a rifle. Less than 5 percent of murders committed by guns involved rifles, yet somehow restricting access to them is suddenly going to prevent gun violence? It just doesn’t make any sense.

President Obama does the public a disservice by parading kids out to make a political statement. He effectively ends the conversation about how to address gun violence by implying that his opponents must not care about the children. That’s called game playing, Mr. President, not effective leadership.

Do you feel like these children were used as political props?

I bet if you showed anti-constitutionalists different guns, they would not know which ones were assault weapons or semi automatics and so forth. They are using the deaths of 20 kids to push through laws that are not constitutional. But where were they when 500 people were shot and killed in Chicago?

Billsfan, I think its funny about Chicago. He mentioned about how many kids were shot in Chicago, but deliberately ignored the fact that Chicago already has some of the strictest gun laws in the country but that still didnt stop those kids from getting shot, did it? You could see when he was talking, he realized what he just said and knew it was a mistake to bring up. Then quickly changed tactics.

We are getting close to 1939 Germany. I am scared.

Like more laws are going to do any good. When will people realize that criminals don't abide by laws?

Autum, you need a wakeup call. There is no "middle of the road" when it comes to Obama. It's either his way or the highway.

Autumn, gun sales are already regulated. What more do you want? Putting more restrictions on what type of guns and bullets I can buy, is unconstitutional.

If you honestly think that Obama didn't use those kids, you are just a sheep that doesn't know better, and you will follow Obama right into the gas chambers.

Autumnleaves87, bless your heart. It's actually YOUR first paragraph (and ensuing ones) that show what a "blind wingbat YOU are; you must be enjoying some of my hard-earned money as you so ineloquently butcher the written (and one would imagine) spoken language with your blind vitriol over someone having a differing opinion. Democraps and bleeding hearts are the WORST kinds of bullies, but you do it well. You have my pity and sympathy; try using your own brain instead of calling people names(like you did with the writer of this article). What names can we call you? Obam-obot, libturd, blind sheep are just the first to come to mind.

Thank you for this article; some of us who think with our own minds appreciate it very much.

Anyone call pull up specific circumstances to support their opinions. Gun control advocates can point to England and Australia. People who don't think we need more gun control will point to Chicago or Washington D.C. (as if crossing a land-based border was just as difficult as flying or boating weapons onto an island nation). Jenny, the reason assault weapons are being targeted is because they're not just limited to 5% of the mass murders we've seen in recent times, it's significantly higher than that. Again, people will pick and choose whichever statistic furthers their opinion or agenda. Banning weapons that have no practical use for civilians is a lot less scary than putting even more weapons closer to our kids.

Autumn, you need to stop talking about issues YOU don't understand.  The government isn't going to "protect" anyone. And increasing the amount of gun laws, in addition to gun laws that *aren't even consistently/fully enforced* doesn't do a damned thing for anyone in society.

Do you honestly believe that this will stop criminals from killing with guns? With anything that can be used as a weapon?

Do you really believe this makes your children safer? Safer from who?  All this does is indoctrinate them into a system that is imposing it's power/will on its citizens... they'll never know any better; they'll never know any different.  You're already drinking the kool-aid and helping the next generation to believe that the founding fathers just couldn't fathom how things would change and that the Bill of Rights, Constitution, and Declaration of Independence are obselete now.  Because our government knows how to do everything better than we do.

OH, and before you go trying to bash me... I'm not a conservative (in fact, I've never voted Republican but I've never voted for Obama).  I don't own ANY guns, yet I know how to shoot and am well versed in gun safety.  I'm not a member of the NRA.

I'm merely a concerned citizen who supports the Constitution and the 2nd amendment.  I like being free of a tryannical government... although I see that we are swiftly heading there.

So Autumn, what you are saying is that the shooting in an affluent neighborhood is worse than a lower income neighborhood and that the shootings in lower income neighborhoods are an everyday occurrence, so they don't matter. But 20 little white kids are shot and killed and then the President goes ape shit on our laws.
