This is gonna sound crazy, but I almost hope you're having a bad day. Because if you are having a bad day -- if you've ever had a bad day, quite frankly -- what you're about to see is guaranteed to make you forget your troubles and get happy and wipe all your tears away and all of that, at least for a little while.
(Except the few tears you might find welling up in your eyes as a result of watching this heartbreakingly adorable video, of course, but those are good tears.) See, every Monday after rehearsal, the elderly members of the Barbershop Harmony Society's Oakville, Toronto chapter head to a nearby Tim Hortons for coffee and donuts. One Monday, local resident Danfi Parker happened to be at the same Tim Hortons when the troupe (known as The Entertainers) spontaneously burst into song. "They had a little whistle thing to set the pitch and then they just started singing,” said Parker.
Apparently the 11 gentlemen, who range in age from their 50s to their 90s, started with a few Sinatra tunes. But by the time Parker pulled out his phone to start filming, the chorus had switched to Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." What Parker captured on video was pure magic:
I tend to be something of a cynic, myself, but even I have to admit that a world where something this sweet and touching can happen on a Monday night at a Tim Hortons ... well, it can't be all bad. Parker summed it up perfectly, I think, when he said:
"It just goes to show beauty can be captured at any moment in the most random places."
