You have to figure that a guy who hangs out online talking about wanting to cook and kidnap women probably doesn't have nice friends. And indeed the "Cannibal Cop" Gilberto Valle has claimed that he and his online buddies would discuss the best ways to roast and flambé women as a joooooke, y'all. Just some dudes passing the time, you know? Prosecutors aren't buying it and say Valle, a New York City police officer, was doing more than just fantasizing. Cops say they went into action just before he was about to claim victim number one -- who was going to be delivered to an online pal of his. That man, Michael Van Hise, has been arrested. Van Hise allegedly had more than raping and cooking women on his to-do list -- and it involves children, one of them his wife's 3-year-old daughter.
Van Hise was arrested last week for the kidnap plot. His online pal, Valle, was allegedly going to kidnap a woman and deliver her to Van Hise to be raped and killed, and in return Valle would receive $5,000. (Though Van Hise tried to dicker down the price.)
Van Hise's lawyer, like Valle's, has taken the tack that this was all just a bunch of "racy talk." But authorities say their sick talk went way beyond that. Take a listen to what Van Hise was up to: He allegedly sent photos of his wife's 7-year-old niece and her sister, who is 9, to men in an online chat room and offered them up for rape.
He allegedly posted the street address where the little girls lived and said, "We can engage in other activities" with them and told an undercover FBI agent that he was "serious." Prosecutors say that Van Hise also wanted to keep his 3-year-old stepdaughter as a "sex slave."
None of this has stopped Van Hise's wife, 22-year-old Bolice Van Hise, from defending her husband and calling him a "big teddy bear." She reportedly said: "They make him out to be a monster. He’s not. He’s as hard-core as a baby."
She said all of his online talk about raping her daughter and her nieces was just his "imagination." As if that makes it okay?! In perhaps the saddest comment I've ever heard from a woman in a twisted relationship, she said, "You have to accept your partner's flaws in a marriage." Bolice and Van Hise have two children of their own -- a 2-year-old son and a baby daughter.
Thank god Valle's wife, who is the one who originally tipped cops to her husband's online chatter, didn't feel the same way.
What do you think of Van Hise's online talk?
