Women Pose With Assault Rifles They Got for Christmas (PHOTOS)

OMG 159

guns for ChristmasIn the wake of the massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, semi-automatic weapon sales have skyrocketed, specifically for AR-15 rifles, the same gun that shooter Adam Lanza used to murder 20 children and six adults on that horrifying day. Gun shops can't seem to stay stocked, and there are even reports of long wait lists for the military rifles. In an even sicker twist, a lot of those weapons seem to have been given as Christmas gifts, and the recipients have been posting photos of themselves, posing with their new assault weapons. And a lot of them are women. Women. Holding assault rifles. WTF?

Why anyone needs weapons like this who isn't, you know, stationed in Afghanistan, is beyond me. But also, who gives someone else an assault weapon for Christmas???

This type of gun was not just used in the Sandy Hook shootings. It was also the weapon of choice oguns for Christmasf accused Aurora, Colorado movie-theater shooter James Holmes last summer and Jacob Roberts, the shooter identified in the Portland Mall shooting earlier this month. One was also used by William Spengler just a few nights ago on Christmas Eve. Spengler murdered two firefighters and shot two more as they tried to fight a fire he started.

And now ammunition is apparently flying off the shelves as well. "This week, the world's largest firearms dealer said it has sold 3.5 years of magazines for the AR-15 -- in just three days and were struggling to meet the demand," according to The Daily Mail.

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? Who give guns as Christmas presents? I mean really. I'm asking in all seriousness. Because not only is it in incredibly poor taste to post a photo of yourself holding the same weapon that's been responsible for four of the most heinous crimes in recent memory ... it's just kind of sick. Merry Christmas! Here's my assault rifle!

What does it say about us as a country that people give each other weapons for Christmas? Nothing good, I think. Nothing good. And guns for Christmasthat people are so boastful and enthusiastic about receiving killing machines on a holiday that's supposed to be about love and family and joy. Not the kind of joy in the face of this woman, baring her midriff and aiming her big gun. I don't get it.

Do you think an assault weapon is an appropriate Christmas gift?

What is an "assault rifle"? What characteristics of a gun transform it from an ordinary rifle into an "assault rifle"?

We gave our son a deer rifle for Christmas when he was 13, so, people like me.

The AR-15 is my favorite gun to shoot. It has very little kick and is extremely accurate. There are plenty of women who love to collect and shoot and they loved it BEFORE the Sandy Hook tragedy. This whole article is insulting.

I got a hi-point 9mm for christmas. Due to background checks, I have a mandatory 10 day waiting period to pick it up. 2 more days and its MINE!! I will be taking pictures.

How is it specifically bad for women to do this?

Also, I believe Lanza left his AR15 in the trunk. I don't believe it was used to shoot anyone.

You're ridiculious to think you have any right to say what should make anyone, any WOMAN, happy

My parents are in their 60s and my mom got my dad a new pistol for Christmas. She's not into guns but its a hobby of his. He doesnt carry them (we're in Illinois, so that's illegal), and they have no kids in the house.. They own a cabin on 30 acres, so he likes to go there and fish and target shoot... This author/article couldn't be more idiotic. I wonder what she got for Christmas.. An ipad? A pretty new purse? Ooooohh she's such an intellectual (sarcasm).

People who know the cops aren't always standing beside you and you might need a gun to prevent some pig who broke into your house from raping you while your husband and children are forced to watch.

Or to stop some creep who attempts to carry off your toddler to sodomize and cut into pieces.

Or to stop some murderous thug who opens fire in a restaurant.  Or a shopping mall.  Or a school.
