So, a pony and a zebra walk into a bar ... wait, what? That would never happen! Ha! Let's try that again: So, a pony and a zebra go trotting across a shopping center parking lot in Staten Island ... wait, what? Well, yeah. Actually, that DID happen! And it gets even better. Because then the pony and the zebra trotted into a costume store and the zebra put on a big rainbow clown wig and started singing:
Da da da da da da da da circus
Da da da da da da da da afro
Circus afro, circus afro,
Polka dot polka dot polka dot circus!
Wait, what? Fine, I ripped that bit off from Madagascar. But even though the next part will sound like I stole it from the same movie, I totally didn't!
Seriously, this is all true: Razzi, the zebra, and Casper, a Shetland pony, escaped from a zoo! Just like the Madagascar characters! (Except it was a petting zoo, but whatever. Or maybe a Christmas Tree seller's lot, depending on who you ask.) Anyway, the animals escaped sometime this morning and proceeded to have themselves a most excellent adventure.
Local business owner Zachary Osher took a video of the fugitives at around 9 a.m., running like, well, like two wild animals who just broke out of captivity and weren't never gonna look back! Osher also filmed the two men following them wearing dark suits and carrying lassoes. No, I'm not making sh*t up again! That part really happened, too! Here come the Men in Black ... clap clap clap
Sadly, no word on why Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones (maybe) showed up ... yet. But Razzi and Casper were captured at around 2 p.m. "through a joint effort with the Parks Department, NYPD, and FDNY."
Then they all started dancing in formation.
Da da da da da da da da circus
Da da da da da da da da afro
Circus afro, circus afro,
Polka dot polka dot polka dot circus!
Or not.
What would you do if you saw a zebra and a pony running through a shopping lot parking lot?

On our local TV they had the commercial "coming up on the 10pm news" and one of the hosts actually said "wild animals run loose in the city streets" - then they cut to a couple seconds of video and it's these little guys. The drama in her voice you would have thought a bunch of lions were loose, we laughed so hard.
Awwe, they're so scared. lol
