Nude Protesters Storm John Boehner's Office & We're All Arrested

by Adriana Velez on November 27, 2012 at 6:05 PM

nude protesterI can't tell you how much glee this story gives me. Today seven nude activists stormed the John Boehner's office to protest potential cuts to AIDS programs. The Act Up protesters painted red ribbons and "AIDS cuts kill" on their bodies. According to reports, they chanted, "Boehner, Boehner, don't be a dick, budget cuts will make us sick."

This photo tweeted by Talking Points Memo reporter Sahil Kapur is the tamest one I could find. Click on those links carefully -- NSFW photos!

Police threatened to arrest the protesters until they finally put their clothes back on. I guess they could have just politely protested in jeans and t-shirts, but would we have noticed or cared? Not a chance. This was a kooky thing to do, but it definitely got attention.

Something really clever they did was to stand, arms linked, in a line. But they were facing different directions, so wherever you were in the room, you got an eyeful of nekkid. Only the three women were arrested -- "for lewd and indecent acts." Apparently they were mingling, still naked, with the crowds outside the office while the four men had left. That's what we ladies get for always wanting to socialize.

Anyway, the fuss is over $1.2 billion in cuts that may be on the table in the talks over avoiding the fiscal cliff. And no, I don't think they were seriously hoping to change Boehner's mind specifically (although I can't help wondering if he didn't find it all just a little bit exciting). I think they picked his office to be cheeky and provocative -- and because he's one of the two most important people in these conversations. And, well, you're just not going to get away with streaking through the President's office.

Last week there were nude activists protesting their right to go nude in San Francisco and I rolled my eyes. But this is different -- this is literally a matter of life and death. And in all seriousness (if I can stop giggling here for a moment), I think this is a cause worth taking your clothes off for.

What do you think of the nude protesters in Speaker Boehner's office?

I believe the title of this article is supposed to read "Nude Protesters Storm John Boehner's Office & WERE All Arrested."

Well, cuts would have to be somewhere. Food stamps? Grandmas medication? Firefighters? What? Need to make a choice

I thought it was rude, especially calling him a dick. AIDS is not a death sentence anymore. AIDS research gets millions and millions of research dollars. Much more than several diseases combined. They also get millions from charity as well. In my opinion, the federal government should give a certain amount to each disease and make it equal. AIDS is no more special than Epilepsy or Diabetes.

Funny how you are so mad at Boehner for this.  Arsenio Hall was working for the Magic Johnson Aids foundation on the Apprentice and only got 5 grand a piece from Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock.  Those men could throw that kind of money away and not notice and that is all they could give and no one said a word.  Where was the outrage?  When John Rich and Trace Adkins were  on that show they raised so much for St. Jude and proved that Country Music cares about charity.  We can't afford to keep throwing money at all these problems.  We need people to take initiative and raise money through donations and not by bankrupting our government.  We have to make cuts and the best way to do that is to cut almost everything.  I say we start with government pay at the top.  All ex-President's need to forfeit their yearly salary and we will let them keep their secret service.  Then we need everyone in D.C. to take a ten percent pay cut.  Everyone!  They need to lead by example that we all need to give a little but we can't keep kicking the can down the road like the liberals want.

These protesters were disrespectful and are should consider themselves lucky that they don't lose any donations over these despicable tactics.  Personally I think 1.2 billion in cuts sounds like a good place to start.  I want to donate to charity too but I can't afford it so I donate my time instead.  We can't give money to them and cut money from our disabled.  Not to mention the fact that if Obamacare is going to fix everything why should we continue to give all these stupid places money anyway?

Agree with CMjaz, Fleur and Bills. I also have to wonder, are these true "cuts" that are being made, or are they "Governmental Cuts", which usually means that they're not actually cutting money from AIDS funding, but rather, just not making as large of an annual increase in funding, which has come to be called "cuts".

But the truth is, many of these diseases that have "supporting groups", like AIDS, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, etc., have a HUGE public support system, and don't need money from the government as much as they think they do. I put them in the same category as PBS and Planned Parenthood. Good organizations that do a lot of public good, but could easily stand on their own without government handouts.

"Don't be a dick" - hey, watch where you put your dick and maybe you won't get AIDS - then expect everyone else to pay for your healthcare.  Just sayin'.
