Don't forget the security guard who was trampled to death at a Walmart.

If people were smart they'd shop a few months prior to get everything little by little. To get it done by this time. Black Friday is shameful.

I shop little by little, and I will go tomorrow- but not at midnight or 5 am or even 8 am... there are many sales that last during the day. I'll go out and about and pick through the scraps the others have left behind. And, I'm not shopping for presents- I like to go out tomorrow and spend money on myself... New clothes and shoes for me to wear on Christmas day! As I said already, my holiday shopping is already pretty much finished. :-)

Black Friday is a joke, according to marketing and sales research the best 'deals' are found not on Black Friday, but during the last ten days before Christmas. Those people fighting like cats and dogs would be getting a better deal, statistically speaking, by waiting to brave the crowded but generally better behaved crowds right before Christmas.

I'm jealous of you, HistoryMama.  I haven't even bought one present yet.  It's hard even getting a list out of teenagers.

I don't black Friday shop. I think people that do are NUTS.
I will be going to ONE small, locally owned store @ 6am. Not to shop even. A friend from high school recently bought the business, so I am going to show my support. I'm not worried at all, because not many people even know about the sale. I wouldn't go even for my friend if it were a real popular, well known store.

I never have shopped in-store on Black Friday, nor do I ever plan to.  If I'm going to shop that day, it will be at home, on my computer.  It's safer and less stressful.

Most people consider me crazy, Procrastamom... but I plan WAY in advance and shop all year. I see something that someone would love and add it to my list and incorporate it into my regular shopping routine throughout the year. No mass saving up for a giant spending spree- no layaways- no stressing to find where the money is going to come from.

However, we also do not go overboard with presents. My children have never been given reason to expect giant and super expensive presents for Christmas- it is not the point of the season. They do get excited about shopping for Toys for Tots or buying food for the food bank... which makes me very proud. :-)
