Woman Who Got Stuck Between Buildings Surely Feels Dumb Enough Without Your Bullying (VIDEO)

LOL 10

girl stuck in alleyAn apparently drunk girl in Providence, Rhode Island somehow managed to get herself wedged between two buildings to such a severe degree that she had to be rescued by the fire department. Fifteen years ago, it would have been an embarrassing tale she told for years. Now, it's an Internet sensation, a viral video she'll never live down.

No doubt the decision to walk in such a tiny crevice/alley as a "shortcut" was silly. She was silly. She will regret it. But this is bad. And kind of unfair. She is hardly the first drunk girl to do something dumb and now the whole Internet is laughing at her. See below:

Unlike most stories of viral videos, this wasn't something that was recorded by an amateur and placed on YouTube. But it's something that might have been a local story had the Internet not existed.

This isn't a major thing. It won't keep her from getting jobs or ruin her life. But it's pretty humiliating. We have seen the way viral humiliation can go from funny to not-so-funny really quickly. There is a fine line between bullying someone and sharing something amusing.

Things are really funny unless you're laughing at someone's expense. And sure, we could say she "deserves" it. After all, she made the poor choice to walk in that alley. And she probably even owes money to the business owners whose stores were ruined by the fire department in an attempt to reach her.

But think about ALL the times you have been drunk and then drop the judgement. This could have been any one of us. Also, have some compassion. Instead of laughing at her, think about this: That must have been TERRIFYING. As someone with mild claustrophobia, I can't even imagine.

So stop laughing, people. This could have been any one of us.

Did this story make you laugh? Do you feel bad?

Uh...I've done some incredibly stupid things in my life that others saw. At no time did I consider them bullying me for laughing. Later on , I also laughed.

Definition of bully:

A person who is habitually cruel or overbearing, especially to smaller or weaker

PLEASE stop overusing this word, this woman is NOT being bullied. Enough already!!

I've never been drunk, especially to that extent, but I'm sure if I had done what she did, I wouldn't appreciate the entire internet audience mocking me... so I do feel bad for her, especially if she does have to pay the store owners for their damaged property.

to the first two posters above me: thank you. we're throwing around "bully" and "bullying" way too easily these days. and i remember something my dad told me a looooooooong time ago when i first started going out drinking - "drunk people make stupid decisions. stupid decisions get made fun of. drink wisely"

also, you have to kind of hope she's on the hook for all the trouble she caused. that's a lot of damage to the buildings because she was drunk and trying to go through somewhere she shouldn't have.

This is not bullying.  She did something incredibly stupid while drunk and the consequences of that action now include the fact that the video is public knowledge.  I have never been so drunk that I would do something this stupid.  Perhaps she should have thought about what may have happened before going out that night.  It's not like someone shoved her in between those buildings!  She made a stupid choice while drunk and me laughing at the predicament she got herself into is NOT bullying.  I can laugh because I've never been that stupid in my life.  If she can't keep herself from destroying public property while intoxicated then maybe she should stay home and drink or just quit drinking all together.

If you're stupid enough to get SO drunk, that you get stuck between buildings...you deserve to be laughed at. HARD. This isn't bullying, it's a natural, appropriate reaction to stupidity.

Has anyone every been ridiculed by millions of people for an error of judgment? A joke among friends is different that

As previous people have stated, this is not bullying. If I do something stupid and end up on the news, I expect to be laughed at.

Agreed, not bullying. All bets are off once you do something so stupid that the Police, news and Fire Department are all there. Also, SOMEONE HAD TO CUT APART BUILDINGS to get to her. She inflicted massive property damage and used public resources paid on the taxpayer dime!

So NO, it's not "Oh don't be mean because she was drunk" This woman messed up in a big way, she needs to suffer the consequences. I hope she has to pay back the damages she did to the buildings at least.
