Man Takes Pregnancy Test & Gets Wildest, Most Unexpected Result

Say What!? 40

pregnancy testSay you're a man, and you're bored. You come across a pregnancy test left in your bathroom cabinet by an ex-girlfriend, and you think, Hey, LOL, lemme pee on this thing! and so you do. And, you know, it's kinda funny. You then wait the appropriate amount of time to check the results, and after the three minutes or so, bazam. You see two pink lines. Congrats, you're pregnant.

WHAT!? The doctors had good and bad news for the unnamed man with a positive pregnancy test.

Said man had uploaded his pregnancy news to Reddit using, I might add, hilarious cartoons to illustrate his shock and horror, and what the Internet community helped him discover is that he's probably not pregnant, but there might be something else, rather serious, going on.

So the dude headed to the doc and discovered he had testicular cancer. It turns out that a decent amount of testicular cancer cases carry the same hormone, beta hCG, as pregnancy. The pregnancy test detected the hormone and thus returned a positive result.

The bad news is that this guy has testicular cancer, but the good news is twofold: they caught the tumor early on and he's got an excellent chance at survival, and two, well, he's not pregnant.

The world works in mysterious ways, doesn't it? One minute you're goofing off peeing on baby detectors, drawing funny cartoons, and uploading the comical saga to an Internet thread ... the next you're consulting with a physician about removing a life-threatening growth from your balls.

The five-year survival rate for testicular cancer is 99 percent if the cancer hasn't metastasized, so here's hoping this guy has a long, healthy, and unpregnant life ahead of him.

Has the world ever worked in a mysterious way for you?

This is actually very good info. Thank you

I wish people would raise awareness about testicular cancer as much as breast cancer.  My 24 year old brother just died from it last year.

This is one that hits the younger crowd (teenage to mid-thirties), and like the article states, it is SO important to catch it early.  Unfortunately for my brother, he had noticed that something wasn't right, and brushed it off for a few weeks before finally seeing a doctor.

That 99% success rate means nothing if you don't act accordingly.  And for God's sake, HAVE REGULAR CHECKUPS for your sons!  Starting in high school.

This makes me want to regularly check my husband for cancer by making him pee on a stick.

lol, mellowknees. . .you're the first person to "get" that!  Others have been flummoxed as to why I have a ordinary, middle-aged woman as my avatar.

Hmm... Maybe pregnancy tests can go in the market as testicular cancer test sticks for men.

I had a guy in a math class at college who died over the semster break of testicular cancer.  He was 19 or so and a nice guy.  Found a lump by accident, went to dr, was metastasized.  Dead in 6 weeks. Found out when he was't in the next class in the series from someone who was close to him.  Men get cancers, too, not just prostate.  Testicular and male breast cancer need to be talked about.

I have to smile at kelli0585's pic too. American Voices on the Onion are hilarious.

That is really interesting to know about the pregnancy test. I want my boyfriend to pee on one now. Guys sometimes wait when they're sick or hurt (although I'm guilty of that too), but time can be crucial to getting effective treatment.

Kelli0585- I am so very sorry for your loss!

This is very interesting. Hopefully this story will get around and save some lives.
