Teen Girls’ Fight Over Fart Ends in Death (VIDEO)

OMG 40

Like lots of 16-year-old kids, Shaakira Dorsey got into a stupid fight with a girl she knew. This fight was so stupid, in fact, that it actually was about farting. Apparently, Dorsey teased another girl after she passed gas, as lots of high school students have done in the past. The difference between this fight and other trivial teenage arguments? This fight ended with Shaakira being killed.

According to reports, after Shaakira poked fun at another girl for her flatulence, an argument didn't just break out, a full-blown fist fight did. And before Shaakira's stepfather was able to intervene, his daughter collapsed. Shortly thereafter, she was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The unnamed suspect has been charged with one count of murder, and she's set to make her first court appearance on Wednesday.

I mean, wow. I'm not trying to trivialize anything here, but -- a child was just murdered over a fart. That's ... well, that's unbelievable.

Teenagers obviously do stupid things and get into stupid fights all the time, but typically they wind up resolving themselves, or at the very least, the kids just wind up going their own ways (perhaps after some punches have been thrown). But to kill another person over something as stupid as this? I mean, how do you even digest this scenario?

No doubt the girl suspected of murdering Shaakira is going to regret this for the rest of her life -- no matter what the legal outcome. I don't know if killing Shaakira was her intention, but she did, and now she has to live with it. And what's she going to say to people when they asked why she did it? Awful.

How terrible is this? What's the dumbest fight you've ever gotten into?

Wow, what an incredible tragedy. My heart goes out to both families.

Many kids and young adults don't realize they are not immortal, and some bad decisions can be forever.

Wow :o that's horrible!! Bullying can push people beyond their limits and sometimes you just have to laugh at your own silly instances instead of blowing up. Two families lost their daughters...SMH

You just trivialized it.

I wonder if there was an underlying condition that she suffered from. I cant imagine burying a child, but to have witnessed here death on top of it...man, I bet he is blaming himself. How does a parent recover after that? And for the other girl and her family....goodness, this is tragic all the way around. She will be vilified, eat up with greif and it will take a looong time for her to heal after this. If she ever does.

I would love to see the day when The Stir begins reporting with compassion. Sometimes I find it hard to believe these stories are written by women with children. Seems some of the writers are more concerned with being 'witty' than empathetic.

I wonder what the writers would say if the familes ever read some of the Stir stories written about thier loved ones.

Like I've said in many of these cases, bullying happens all the time and people just watch it happen. As a matter of fact, it happens in the comment section here a lot! Just look at a political blog post...

In my city. Things are going down hill quick here. The violence is getting out of hand. Especially with the younger crowd. It makes me scared that my dh will be part of the police force that has to deal with stuff like this.

Bullying? How can you call this bullying IslandMom? It was one single incident. If people keep calling every little thing bullying, we're going to lose the ground we've gained in trying to stop it. Not every mean act is bullying. It's just "one mean act." Kids also tease each other and it's been going on since the beginning of time. It's NOT all bullying.

It's my thought this girl had something wrong with her that nobody knew about. A young person like this doesn't just collapse and die over nothing. I sure hope an autopsy is being done. I don't think this girl should have to live with this if it was something else. That's a terrible price for teasing someone about anything.

Bullying should never be acceptable. It's especially horrific that ADULTS were watching the fight as it was happening, and not doing anything to stop it. THEY should be held just as responsible as the victim that was bullied by the tormentor that died.

Holy crap, this wasn't bullying. The girl laughed at a fart. As a teenager if I heard someone fart I would have burst out laughing and I wasn't a bully.

This girl, the farter, obviously over reacted and started a fight. Unfortunately it ended with the death of a 16 year old girl.

Regardless if this murder victim had some preexisting condition or not, the aggressor chose to start a fight and must live with the fact that she killed someone. She also must face the consequences of her actions.

The step dad went to break it up but his daughter collapsed before he could reach them. Where does it say that he was watching and/or encouraging this? That's right, it doesn't. So please stop blaming parents for everything and place the blame squarely on the teen who thought solving her issues with aggression was the way to go. She, and she alone, are responsible for this.
