Hospitalized Man Says Marines Brutally Beat Him Outside Concert (VIDEO)

OMG 30

zac zanderThis past weekend, a horrific event transpired in Chula Vista, California, where a 25-year-old man named Zac Zander and his family say he was beaten within an inch of his life by a group of men who are allegedly Marines. Zander was tailgating with his friends and family while waiting for country star Jason Aldean's concert to begin. According to Zander's father, Keith, a group of rowdy men began hassling women near the area, "taunting them, throwing beer at them, throwing beer cups, throwing ice at them." Distraught by what he was witnessing, Zac attempted to come to their rescue. And what occurred next is nothing short of incredibly disturbing ...

The men -- who were allegedly "bragging that they were 1st Battalion recon guys in the Marines, and they had Marine tattoos" -- turned on Zac, knocking him to the ground, and "everybody dog piled him, punching, eye gauging, and throat choking." But that was just the beginning ...

Zander's mother, Cheryl, elaborated:

They went away to assault someone else and he could hear that it was a woman. [Zac] told them to stop and they came back because he stood up for a woman. They beat him again.

Now, Zac Zander is in the hospital. His jaw had to be wired shut. His face had to be reconstructed using metal plates and screws. Completely ... utterly ... sick.

Local law enforcement, along with NCIS, says they have identified most -- if not all -- of the participants involved in the assault and they "hope to submit the case to the District Attorney's office for evaluation in the near future." But that isn't enough of a comfort to the Zander family, and I don't blame them for being frustrated and feeling like not enough has been done.

What's more, if these men really ARE Marines, wheeew, then this is a horror story on a whole different level. One that could and should bring serious shame to the service. Though, of course, it remains to be seen if they definitely were servicemen; hopefully, we'll soon know the answer, and either way, serious justice will be served for this crime.

Here's the local news report on the horrifying incident ...

How do you feel about what happened here?

this should be put on there for public knowledge people need to know what is going on with the military like this it is a shame

I believe this is public, yes? They will identify them. And as always, what one group of assholes do, doesn't mean they all do them

Not surprised, at all! So many crimes happen within the military, but are given a pass because of who they are. Within the next 40 years, I'm sure there will be a scandal where government officials are exposed for sweeping crimes underneath the carpet.

It amazes me that when a few military men or women get into trouble the entire military is judged to be the same.. why not just judge the ones that did this and not the entire military..

IT STILL REMAINS TO BE SEEN IF THEY WERE TRUE MARINES.....IF THEY ARE....THEIR OWN WILL DEAL WITH THEM IN A MUCH HARSHER WAY THAN THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY WOULD. PERSONALLY, I THINK THEY SHOULD BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW. DON'T JUDGE THEM AS MARINES UNTIL FINDING OUT THE WHOLE STORY. IT'S EASY TO CLAIM YOU ARE SOMEONE YOU AREN'T.......

Linda is right. Crimes that military members commit are not swept under the rug. They are prosecuted in military court which is very different than civilian court. Their command will deal with their crimes and trust me... the punishment always fits the crime.

Horrible. It's amazing to me you're all so ready to blame the Military but we don't know if these were actually Marines... Here's a novel idea - how about waiting until all the facts are known before you start comdemning anyone!

@Pinkmani....While I am sorry this man was hurt. It offends me for you to group all military personnel in this way. My husband is active duty air force and has served over 23 years. My son is currently in Marine Corps bootcamp and will become a Marine next week. Both are very kind and honorable men. This world is full of mean, cruel people who are not military. My family fights for your rights. Do not group them in with horrible people.

Don't play with Marines, they play rough !!!

Let's not assume they are Marines without some facts. And, if they are, then shame on them! But, don't assume all military personnel are this way. And, how much more public can you get?
