Kate Middleton & Prince Harry's Naked Photo Scandals Bring Out Some Royal Sexism (VIDEO)

Say What!? 14

prince harryMemo to tabloids: Publish topless photos of Kate Middleton and the Palace will sue your ass. But if you want to run with those naked pictures of Prince Harry, be our guest. That's pretty much the message the royal family is sending with its recent announcement that they won't sue over the photos of Prince Harry's nude dancecapades.

Boys will be boys and all that. And anyway, the Prince has more important things to attend to. The Palace press office said avenging the Prince Harry photos would be a distraction from his deployment in Afghanistan, and that it "would not be prudent to pursue the matter further."

Well I think that's a double standard! And it speaks volumes about how differently the Palace sees men's and women's roles. Apparently for them it's still the middle ages.

So because Harry is doing Important Things in Afghanistan, we'll just tolerate his flaunting of his Royal jewels? That doesn't even make sense, first of all. His BEING in Afghanistan is too much of a distraction. I mean, what is he even doing there in the first place? All those people who are risking their lives to protect him so he can act as a symbol -- or something like that? Is that the idea? I guess the purpose of the Spare Heir is to look all virile and British for the sake of morale, and shenanigans with the ladies unofficially play into that.

Oh, but if you are the pure, sacred vessel who may or may not be carrying the Royal seed, you must be protected. The public shall not gaze upon Her Highness' mammaries, for they will one day feed a King or Queen. I'm sure the Palace will sue over the bottomless photos as well. Dear lord, the Royal Birth Canal, exposed!

I'm not saying the Royals shouldn't be suing over Kate's topless (and now bottomless) photos. I'm just saying that since it's the 21st century, they should be more consistent. Either sue over both or don't sue, but having different standards for either gender is just too retro even for them.

Do you think there should be different standards for exposing Royal women vs. Royal men?

It's not a double standard at all. Harry was partying like an idiot while Kate was vacationing in a private location. The pics of Harry were taken with his knowledge. Hers weren't. He deserved it. She didn't.

This article is just badly written. Prince Harry put himself in a compromising position with strange women. Kate was at a private home 1/2 mile from the road. One had an expectation of privacy, the other didn't.

i totally agree with @onefootcutiepie. harry's people (and he himself) were all sloppy and let the escapades happen - not the case for kate. also, you're expecting the ROYAL FAMILY to not have double standards. as far as they're concerned, harry is just the backup - prince william is really the one they care about. do i agree with that? no, but i'm not the royal family either.

At least they did not send Kate into a combat zone to teach her a lesson...

My ancestors fought a war so that we need not care about the antics of the British royal family.

However, to be fair, Harry flies real helicopters, get's shot at with real bullets.

Agree with onefootcutiepie.

i agree too except Harry shouldnt be doing that and neither should Kate! There is NO privacy anywhere when you are a star, singer or future king and queen......etc. they already know this and besides im sure bodyguards are present and around if not paparazzi. i think especially knowing how their mom was treated and nothing is actually private people like the attention and maybe want to sue etc.

There's a world of difference between taking photos without permission from far away and taking snapshots openly and with permission.

As for Harry serving, it's tradition. Young male royals have always served in the military.

Your comments are totally ridiculous. Princess Kate was not out partying. She was inside a private residence that someone trespassed to get photos.

I have no comment on the pictures since they are both smart enough to know that NOTHING is ever private, including or especially "private" vacations.
Harry however WANTS to be in Afghanistan, that's where his men are. He was removed from overseas combat a few years ago and was furious. It's not a punishment, it's his job as a soldier and one that he enjoys.

the reason they didn't sue is bc it was his OWN fault. Not the boys will be boys crap. Kate was inside a private house. She had an expectation of privacy. What that photographer did was ILLEGAL it's called peeping tom. Harry was out with a bunch of random people partying. The palace knows this and he knows it was his own stupid fault. what happened to kate crossed the line bc she didn't put herself in a position that she expected to compromise her privacy.
