If it's anything I hate, it's a politician who's a hypocrite. It's one thing when us regular folk get all hypocritical sometimes. How many times have you said, "Do as I say, not as I do!" to the kids. But it's another thing when a politician, who is making laws for the rest of us, does it. No, it's not okay to do as you do while trying to put the rest of us in jail for doing the same thing. Talkin' to you, Mitt Romney! Romney is a pro-lifer who believes life starts at conception (he vetoed an emergency contraception bill in Massachusetts because of that). In general, he does not believe in abortion. But when it comes to his son Tagg and daughter-in-law Jen, then things are a wee bit different. Apparently Mittens' son gave himself the right to abort any fetuses in the surrogate mother who just gave birth to the couple's twins.
TMZ is reporting that Mitt's son, Tagg, who recently had twins through a surrogate, signed an "abortion clause" in the contract with the surrogate. The abortion clauses gave the surrogate the right to abort the fetus or fetuses in case her health was in danger. It read:
If in the opinion of the treating physician or her independent obstetrician there is potential physical harm to the surrogate, the decision to abort or not abort is to be made by the surrogate.
And the clause gave Tagg and Jen the right to abort in other cases, such as if the fetus wasn't healthy or there were too many of them.
The clause also read:
In the event the child is determined to be physiologically, genetically or chromosomally abnormal, the decision to abort or not to abort is to be made by the intended parents. In such a case the surrogate agrees to abort, or not to abort, in accordance with the intended parents' decision ... Any decision to abort because of potential harm to the child, or to reduce the number of fetuses, is to be made by the intended parents.

Hold the same political views as Mitt. But It wasnt Mitt who used the surrogate and agreed to the clauses so I see no hypocrisy on his part...at least in regards to this specific instance.
Kiri, you're such a freaking idiot.
This does not make Mitt Romney a hypocrite at all. His son is a grown adult with his own beliefs, and it was the SON who signed a contract. Is the son a hypocrite? Maybe, I don't know what he believes about abortion. Could it just be that he disagrees with his father? Possibly.
Does it even matter what the son believes. NO IT DOESN'T. He's not the one running for President.
For God's sake....we get it. Most Stir Bloggers are left-winged nut-jobs, and will stop at NOTHING to paint the Republican candidate in a bad light. But seriously? Stuff like this only serves to highlight your desperation. Shame on you.
Searching hard for dirt aren't you? This is what you could come up with? That says tons about the integrity of Romney!!!! Good job. Go Conservatives!
Grasping....grasping.....not working....
Romney/Ryan 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love how the rest of the story is missing from this. If you read the rest on TMZ you will see that the fact this clause was in the contract was a mistake. His son used the same surrogate in 2009 & had that clause removed but when the contract was drawn up for 2011, everyone missed it-it was just a simple oversight that the clause remained in the 2011 contract. If there's anything I hate, it's writers that deliberately mislead readers.
Eh...I'm not going to hold it against him.
This was Mitt's son, not Mitt himself, even if he did help pay for the surrogate. We don't know his kids' beliefs on abortion.
I honestly don't believe Romney would try to ban all abortion completely though if elected. That would never fly and it's just not going to happen.
