Bust out and blow the shofar, because it's Rosh Hashanah! Today marks the Jewish New Year. Being that it's one of the two holiest days in the Jewish calendar -- along with the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur -- many Jews around the world are spending time today in synagogue. But praying isn't necessarily the only way to celebrate the High Holidays ...
One of many reasons to love Rosh Hashanah (besides the fact that it's an awesome excuse to eat apples dipped in honey, honey cake, and challah) is that it's equal parts serious and fun. We look back on the past year and setting positive intentions for the new one, but we also celebrate a sweet and happy New Year! So it's perfectly fitting that funny viral videos acknowledging the holiday have started cropping up every year. And the hit of the year 5773 is bound to be CHY aka Eric Niederman's hilarious, entertaining Rosh Hashanah parody of Korean megastar PSY's "Gangnam Style" video!
Check it out ...
HA, fantastic! Too too funny. My fave part has to be "OOOYYYY Bubbe Zadie!" (That's grandma and grandpa in Yiddish, by the way.) The only thing missing here is the "ride the pony" move, but maybe that's not part of doin' it up "Rosh Hashanah style"?
No matter if you celebrate Rosh Hashanah or not, you've gotta give it to "CHY" for pulling off one of the best "Gangnam Style" parodies yet. (That's saying a lot, given how many are already out there!) And oh yeah, for calling our attention to just how much fun celebrating the Jewish New Year can be!
How much fun is this PSY parody?! If you celebrate Rosh Hashanah, what's your favorite holiday tradition?
