Oh, world, you really have gone to hell in a hand basket, haven't you? On the heels of the horrific protests and attacks in Libya and Yemen, and the man who was left for dead on a subway track, we now have a random woman handing out bottles of bleach to babies. Yep. Seriously, if you just want to crawl under the covers today, and not leave -- ever -- no judging here.
Police in London are currently on the lookout for a white woman, said to be in her 50s, who has reportedly given an 11-month-old baby a bottle containing bleach. Earlier on today, police were called in to treat the little one, who had suddenly gotten sick and was vomiting at a McDonald's. They found out that the baby was apparently offered a bottle containing an unknown substance some time beforehand (containing bleach supposedly). The baby swallowed some of the liquid, and is now at a hospital in "stable" condition. Shortly after discovering what happened, police issued the following message via Twitter: "WARNING! Last 1/2 hr. @Eltham High St. White female in 50s giving children in [strollers] bottles containing believed bleach."
Where was the mom? What was she doing? How did this happen, etc. etc. etc.? I don't know, as details regarding this incident are sparse. But I do know that the world is out of control lately. Nuts. Banoodles. Come loose from its hinges. It's almost enough to not make you want to bring a kid into this mess. Good Lord.
Thank God this child is okay. Let's pray that the police catch this loon, and this never happens again. And, you know what? Why don't we just all stay under the covers today? Seems like the only way we'll be safe.
How sick is this?

wtf!!! [[excuse my language]] "its makes you not wanna bring a baby into this world!?!" gee thanks I'm 37 weeks =|. Ido have so many questions though now I know more than ever I'm not going to want to let my daugther out of my sight more than ever.
Most people would think that their child would be safe in a stroller and turn to the counter to place an order. Please don't blame the mother. Blaming the victim does not good. She will probably blame herself for the rest of her life, when it was someone else's crazy malicious devious behavior that did this. What sort of person would want to do this to anyone, let alone a tiny baby? It's things like this that make me think we shouldn't have done away with public hangings.
I never put my child in a stroller to forget about them - I put them in a stroller to keep them safe and save my back. Three kids under the age of 6 and only two hands, thank you very much. I could have seen it happening to me while I was managing my middle child who has some issues.
I could see how this would happen. A kindly old woman walks up and starts "ooing and ahhing" over your baby and you allow her to talk to your child. You think nothing of it because any mother with a baby knows people will always want to see and talk to your baby and some even want to touch your baby (which I never let anyone do with mine- look but don't touch was my guideline). Then you look away for a moment at something that has caught your attention, and it happens. She switches your baby's bottle with one she was carrying in her purse while you are distracted. It's truly sad that a mother cannot take her child out in public without the risk of serious danger. Just because this happened to her child, it does NOT mean she is a bad mother or wasn't paying attention. Even the best supermoms can get distracted at times. Don't blame Mommy for the actions of the crazy wackadoodle who slipped her baby a bottle of bleach. She's probably blaming herself and beating herself up enough over it as it is.
Actually, it is the perfect day (rainy, misty, overclouded with 65º) to get under the covers for safety. Add a good book or companion, take out order menus, a bottle of aussie merlot, soundproof walls and you have that utter perfection. Seems that there are fewer and fewer places and times where you can escape the world's insane & evil.
According to the grandmother's comments on the linking story, the mother was doing something and the child was with the grandmother. It certainly would be easy enough in McDonalds to put something in a stroller while walking by, the baby was 11 months old, that's old enough to be picking up bottles and drinking from them by themselves.
Instead of blaming any family member, even if they were initative, why don't we support looking for the crazy lady that did this? IF you were in this family's shoes, what would you rather see, people pointing blame at you or trying to catch the person that needs to be locked up for the safety of all children?
