If you liked Michelle Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention, you’re probably a Republican. The First Lady delivered a speech that could’ve come from just about any GOP mom, even Ann Romney. Talk about integrity and work ethic? Check. Mention the importance of community and helping our neighbors? Check. Share cute stories about growing up, date night with your husband, and how tiring motherhood can be? Check, check, and check.
I notice that Mrs. Obama left out the parts about how women now have to work harder and longer to pay out the nose for gasoline due to Barack’s energy policies. That is if they can find a job at all. Women in the workforce have been disproportionately affected by Obama’s economy.
The stories about Michelle’s dad struggling to work and back every day while living with M.S., and how Barack’s grandmother hit the glass ceiling while working at a bank (must have been before the Equal Pay Act of 1963 was enacted) were incredibly touching. They reminded me very much of a speech I heard last week at the Republican National Convention by Condoleezza Rice. The former Secretary of State told a story of growing up in Jim Crow Alabama, and although she couldn’t have a hamburger at Woolworth’s, her parents had her convinced that she could become the president if she wanted to.
Michelle also talked about not playing by your own set of rules, a concept that Republicans have been hounding the Obama administration on for years. Between the Solyndra payouts, the Obamacare waivers, gutting Medicare, ending the work requirement for welfare, the leaked national security emails, Fast and Furious, meetings with lobbyists, hiring a former Bain Capital employee as a budget director ... wait, what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, truth, integrity, and not playing by your own rules.
We learned about dignity and decency ... We learned about honesty and integrity -- that the truth matters ... that you don't take shortcuts or play by your own set of rules ... and success doesn't count unless you earn it fair and square ... Those are the values Barack and I -- and so many of you -- are trying to pass on to our own children. That's who we are.
Because liberals are all about family values, you know. Except when they’re not. Like that time Barack Obama, multimillionaire and leader of the free world, refused to give $1,000 for his nephew with a chest condition to receive medical treatment.
All said and done, it was a great speech. Now if only the Democrats would only practice what Michelle Obama preached, maybe 23 million out-of-work Americans would have jobs, and the national debt wouldn’t be racing past $16 trillion.

Never mind!! I knew it. Karen got the ball rolling!!!! Karen must not come here often. Karen, Jenny is not a reporter. She is a blogger that blogs her, get this, OPINION!!!!.
I am SURE all the O supporters will mob me but why is nothing ever said about the $317,000.+ job she got from Valerie at the Univ of Chicago Med Center where she implimented a program , the "South Side Health Collaborative" to steer the uninsured & poor peopleto other hospital's emergency rooms thus saving the CMC's rooms for the prosperous, insured people who were receiving profitable procedures! This program was called "dangerously close to patient dumping" a VERY illelegal practiceof 'cherry picking'. Because of the criticism from the medical community she changed the name to "Urban Health Initiative" and hired a public relations firm co-owned by David Axelrod who became O'spresidental campagne's chief strategist! Or what about the CMC's board member, Kelly Walsh who was VP at Northern Trust Company which gave the O's their $1.3 million home mortgage? What about the $1.65 million dollar mansion that landed them in a deal with the wife of Tony Reziko, convicted FELON and fundraiser/fixer?
How about the $5,000. earrings for her 44 birthday which she returned for $12,000. ones? Or the very expensive vacations she takes to the tune of multi thousand $ ? Vacations taken in 2010, one of out every NINE ((9) days between 8/10 & 8/11, while more than 14 MILLION Americans were added to the FOOD STAMP ROLLS? Or the trip in Feb 2012 just weeks after their Christmas vacation in Hawaii, she jetted off to Aspen! Her President's Day weekend took 7 deputies from the Aspen Sheriff's office to 'assist' the Secret Service! With gas at a record high, many American families not taking ANY vacations, unemplolyment at record highs, she needs another break. Break? What about her trip to Spain with a 70 person security detail, 3 shifts of security people and military, her 'personal staff' who ALL check into a 5 STAR resort on the Costa del Sol that cost the taxpayers several HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS! Even the NY Daily News headlines screamed "Material Girl Michelle Obama is a modern day Mary Antoinette on a glitzy Spanish vacation". When the leftest media scream about her it must be worse than the taxpayers know.
Anonymous Lucy I notice you didn't want to talk about Michelle's six thousand dollar t-shirt. Its so funny to me the Obama's hang out with Hollywood celebrities but Romney's out of touch. The president is so desperate he has asked his backer's to forgo birthday and wedding gifts for a donation to his campaign. Sounds pretty desperate to me, and selfish, but hey he 'gets' you so its okay.
Wamom and Lucy -- there has been large amounts of spending on clothing and vacations from both candidates. It is what wealthy people do; they spend money on luxuries, which is perfectly ok. As long as Michelle Obama is not shopping using a credit card linked to American taxpayers, then she can buy whatever she wants. If Ann Romney wants to use her husband's money to buy clothes, that's ok too. Wealthy people spending money spurs demand and keeps industries afloat during hard times such as these. What no one seems to understand is that SHOULDNT MATTER WHETHER YOU CAN RELATE TO A CANDIDATE OR NOT. All that matters is that they know how to fix the problems. Sure, they need to understand the problems, but it shouldn't matter whether a candidate has personally experienced said problems. In reality, neither Romney nor Obama is like you and me...that's why they're both running for President and we're sitting here fighting over pointless things.
What bothers me is that the candidates are pandering to people who think they NEED to be relatable in order to understand and fix a problem. Let's face it. Michelle Obama does NOT shop at Target. To think that the times we've seen her do so were not staged is just idiotic and proves how gullible people are. She can afford the finer things in life and that is ok!! She shouldn't have to pander to her base. Neither should the Romneys.
