So I'm hoping to god this whole "dress up in scrubs and pretend to be a nurse so you can steal a newborn from the hospital" thing isn't becoming some sort of crime trend, because so far this month? This has happened twice! To completely different babies in completely different hospitals. And that's just two times too many.
Especially considering the fact that this latest babysnatcher-in-disguise was just 19 years old! Who apparently spent the past few months trying to convince her family she was pregnant. Oh, lord. What is wrong with people?!
Why, why, why? According to police, Breona Moore, 19, dressed up in nurse's scrubs, went to the hospital and pretended to be the sister of a 3-day-old newborn's mom. Then, once she gained access to the room, she claimed to be a nurse and said "she needed to take the baby for a checkup ... The family eventually realized something was amiss and alerted hospital officials."
Well, I should hope so! Thankfully, as with the last faux-nurse newborn abduction attempt, Moore was apprehended before she made it off of hospital grounds. But wtf? Don't most hospitals have some kind of rule about employee ID badges or something?!
All I know is, if I was having a baby right now? I'd be fairly terrified to hand that kid off to anybody, scrubs or not. Can you prove you're a nurse?! Quick, take my blood!!
Would you be scared about a crime like this if you were having a baby right now?

All of the hospitals I delivered in and also have had my child treated in have what nurses affectionatly called "Baby Lo-Jack" which is the equivalent of a house arrest bracelet, only small and secured around the ankle. If it's removed, the alarm sounds. If the baby is removed past a certain area, the alarm sounds. Also, the nurses are required to wear badges and identify themselves upon arrival. Frankly, I'm surprised this happened. It must have been a fairly small hospital without this kind of technology.
Nobodys taken my baby anywhere without proper ID & damn sure not with out me. I followed the nurse everywherer with my children. I know they were sick of me but hay id rather b safe then sorry
I had my two girls at THIS EXACT hospital. They are very secure! The nurses all have ID badges. Some have storks on their badges. If a nurse of a doctor does not have a stork on their badge, they are not allowed to take the baby. You are supposed to check for the stork before you hand your baby to anyone. Plus, they do have the little "house arrest" type bracelets, but this baby was about to be discharged and had already had the bracelet cut off.
Same with me Sofia! Accept the tag was put around her ankle. It's so sad people need to be so hypervigilant nowadays.
They need to take Jails back to the old days, no more weight rooms and T.V. or computer access, 4 walls, a toilet, a mirror and some outside time. USE the death penalty. Throw in counseling and education groups and I'm happy. NOONE is afraid to commit a crime anymore.
also the hospital has security measures that include the doors beeping if a baby gets close to them but in this case the bitch cut off the babies monitors that is how she was able to leave the hospital
