At first glance, Paul Ryan seems like a promising candidate. He claims he has an effective plan in place to balance the budget, improve the economy, and get Americans back to work. The interesting part about his plan is that during his first one-on-one interview with Brit Hume on Tuesday, Ryan admitted, after waffling around the question, that under the Romney/Ryan plan, it would take at least 10 years to balance the budget. He couldn’t provide a clear answer as to what exactly the plan entailed; instead, he chose to attack Obama rather than provide answers.
And there’s more bad news.
Ryan’s track record promises to take a step backward for women’s reproductive rights -- a right that Obama, Biden, and previous administrations have fought hard to take a stand for. Ryan co-sponsored a bill that could ban in-vitro fertilization for couples trying to conceive. He supports banning many common forms of birth control for women, including the pill. And if that’s not enough, Ryan voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which helps women fight for equal pay for equal work. Although the economy is certainly an important issue, protecting the fundamental equal rights of women is paramount. I prefer not to have a man, or the government, decide what my reproductive rights and options are.
Ryan also supports Romney’s plan to provide tax incentives for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class. Ryan supports a tax plan that would give our wealthiest Americans an after tax income increase by at least 8.7 percent. Under Ryan’s plan, people earning over $1 million per year would receive tax cuts of over $260,000 each year. We can also say good-bye to Medicare with Ryan in office and hello to a voucher system for our seniors.
Is Ryan a good choice for Romney? Only if you support a track record on radical conservative views on women’s health. Ryan likely helped Romney reconnect with our most conservative voters, but for your average American, Ryan promises to move our country backward not forward.

@Karen have you heard of the study they did in the last six months that revealed most women make less than their male colleagues because men are better at negotiating contracts. What your saying is you trust the government to do for you what you can't do for yourself. Which is ridiculous. Men are more secure going on an interview and saying they know what they are worth and aren't willing to settle for less, women don't want to do that because they are scared of being called a bitch. The women that aren't scare of being called a bitch typically make more than the men they work with. I am a REAL woman and I don't need the government to do anything for me but get out of the way so I can handle my business.
Also Karen here is a question for you. How does an employer reward excellence and experience with equal work equal pay? Equal pay for equal work does not allow for the better performing employee to be rewarded. You see things look differently when it YOUR company and its YOUR money on the line. Its people like you that are waging a war on women. It seems if we don't agree with you we are some how less of a woman or anti-woman.
@Obamafan-No one can take your post seriously. It was hard to read and was poorly written it hurt my brain. You are wrong on a lot of facts. 1. Obama had a fully democratic congress for the first two years of his presidency and he decided to triple our deficit and cram Obamacare down our throats. Right now Republicans are only in control of one part of Congress and its Harry Reid (he is the Majority Leader of the democratically controlled Senate) is refusing to put bills up for vote including your Presidents budget plan. 2. Harry Reid hasn't passed a budget in three years and this makes business owner's uncomfortable because they don't know where they will be taxed next to make up for the shortfalls. 3. If we are to take Hawaii's word that Obama is a natural born citizen maybe we should take the IRS (controlled by Obama right now) that Romney hasn't broken any tax laws because they'd throw his ass in jail. 4. When you want to comment with the big dogs you better bring your A-game honey because the conservatives on this sight know their shit. If I wouldn't have broken this down for you someone else would have.
Obamafan - I don't blame Obama for everything. I just blame him for a whole lot.........and by a lot, I mean before he was president. Have you ever examined his time in office before the presidency? How's about him and his pal Dodd blocking reform of GSE's like Fannie / Freddy? Even though the Bush admin had been warning since 2001 that they were badly over-leveraged, and if they failed the economy would tank. Obama and Dodd couldn't let that happen to their great campaign contributors.......So they got campaign funds at what cost to the country???? Don't even get me started on his presidency.........Enbalmacare is a disaster.
