Some women are DOWN with the new Romney/Ryan 2012 ticket while others (me) are scared sh!tless about this conservative duo. This tweet by writer Adam Ellis pretty much sums up how I'm feeling about Paul Ryan.
I really hope the women on Twitter supporting #RomneyRyan2012 realize Paul Ryan is fundamentally against their entire gender.
Ryan is staunchly pro-life, wants to cut funding to Medicare (of which women make up 56% of the beneficiaries), opposes the Affordable Care Act, proposes deep cuts in education, and voted to defund Planned Parenthood and against the Fair Pay for Women Act. On the flip side, the right argues that policies under these two could help over 780K unemployed women (the writer also points out that "smart" women only have homes, families and businesses on their minds, NOT contraception -- O RLY?).
Let's see reactions to the Paul Ryan VP announcement from smart American women on both sides.
(Btw, I think women -- Democrat or Republican -- are smart especially if they are concerned about contraception!)
Some famous women in politics and Hollywood are seriously stoked about Romney's addition of Ryan.
Meghan McCain @McCainBlogette: Paul Ryan is an inspired and exciting choice. Sincerely. I am a big fan of his. He will make an excellent Vice President. #RomneyRyan2012.
While other female celebrities and political names don't like it one bit:
@EvaLongoria: With Romney and Ryan, the choice for women, students, veterans and the middle class couldn't be clearer… #Obama2012.
Roseanne Barr @TheRealRoseanne: romney ryan's plan 4 america: steal more from the people-their retirement funds, healthcare & jobs and kill their unions. #BANKSTERWHORES
Some celebs just made jokes to settle their nerves:
@ElizabethBanks: I can confirm categorically that I am NOT Mitt Romney's VP nominee. #gamechange.
While still others (Real Housewives) ripped on Ryan's sense of style because they didn't know what else to say:
@Jillzarin: Watching Paul Ryan speak for first time. No tie??? Not good first impression. Sloppy?
Wow, quite a split! Come November, we shall truly see what America's women think of Romney/Ryan 2012.
Knowing Paul Ryan's record on women's issues, how are you feeling about him as a Vice Presidential candidate?

First off, to answer the question: Yes, I was very happy to read that Ryan was Romney's pick. I was going to vote for Romney no matter what, but I'm still very pleased.
Second of all, I agree with the previous posters about contraception. Why should it be the federal government's responsibility to fund your abortions and birth control when it's available to you now? You can go and buy it yourself. If you say that you're too poor to buy the birth control, then you probably shouldn't be doing something that will make babies. Also, please stop with the "They're getting rid of birth control because they wanna defund Planned Parenthood" whining. It's ridiculous! Are they actually outlawing birth control? No. Ok, then. All they are trying to do is find another way to help our economy, and it's a darn good way. As I said, pay for it yourself. I've seen all the stuff that is available at Wal-Mart: condoms, spermicide, you can fill your bc pills at their pharmacy. Enough with that already! Also, don't you find it a bit hypocritical to shout "Keep your hands off my uterus" to the government, yet you want that same government to fund what happens in your uterus? When will you get that? Jeez!
Now, this is just one of the reasons I will be voting for Romney/Ryan this November. However, my biggest issue here is the economy. All I need to do is ask myself one question: Are you better off since Obama came into office? The answer: NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! That's how I knew that I would vote for anyone else to keep him from a second term, regardless of the other issues. It's just a bonus that I happen to agree with Romney on most other issues!
Main point: The economy sucks and it's hurting us. We need a real change this November-Obama out!
P.S.: Ladies, please spare me of the "It's Bush's fault" defense of Obama. My husband made less money than he does now when Bush was in office, we had higher bills, and we never had any trouble eating. Now, he's making a bit more than he used to, and most weeks we have trouble paying bills and getting food. Also, Obama has been in there 4 years already-the man has had plenty of time to at least begin to fix what is wrong with this country's ecomony. What has he done? Nothing-except triple our nation debt.
Super pleased about the Romney Ryan team, including their views on healthcare reform. After living in very civilized European countries with socialized medicine for years I dread it for my country. Myself and everyone I know who has had to rely on it have been extremely disappointed and have had to buy supplementary private insurance which has become very very expensive due to this type of system ( about $800 per month for 1 person). We have all felt our experience with socialized medicine to be inefficient, often you don't get drugs or help you need, you can wait extremely long periods of time before being able to see a doctor, even when urgent, and you have almost no say in your situation....scary). Not to mention all the horror stories I hear over here...everyone has one. What I find scary is that under Obamacare, after 76, you are no longer eligible for cancer treatment (p272 obamacare). contraception is a pretty easy and cheap situation to deal with, wrap it up, or take the pill, and no matter who is the president abortion isn't going anywhere, so maybe we should focus on jobs and economy rather than how responsible people are being with contraception.

What makes you think that people who are poor don't work hard? Make bad choices? Did you consider that their choices are limited because of a lack of money?
Sorry, but people are only limited by what they allow themselves to be limited by. Any person can work hard to make their life better.
Any woman who feels her ability to live/die, succeed/fail, or have/not have a baby is dependent on the Fed protecting your right to do so, IS a second class citizen, by her own doing. You want to be treated equally? Take responsibility for yourself, for your own success and failure. You decide your outcome.
Obama is not your daddy - he's your pimp.
Despite all the rhetoric, "welfare" (actually known as TANF-TEMPORARY assistance to needy families) is a time limited benefit. There are no "welfare moms" anymore, people. Get over that one. But, there are people who recieve Social Security benefits for disabilities. Those people are too disabled to work and depend on that minimal amount of money and the meidcaid/medicare that comes along with it to survive. If those benefits are eliminated, how will these people live? I'm just curious if any of you are thinking at all past the right-wing stereotype of the welfare mom to the real people who have disabilities so severe that they cannot work. What happens to the guy who's hit by a semi on his way to work and gets a brain injury or a severed spinal cord? What happens when he can no longer work, has no health insurance, and his savings dries up? What happens to his family?
Do you have any plan in place to assist these people when Romney/Ryan elimnate all these social programs? Or, are these people just a burden to society and should hurry up and die off? I'm seriously curious. What, if any, is the plan for the most vulnerable in our society? Can I get a serious response, sans the snark? (and yes, we all know there are people who abuse the system. Those people are the tiny minority. Don't waste time talking about that, please address the ones who are truly disabled.)
