Some women are DOWN with the new Romney/Ryan 2012 ticket while others (me) are scared sh!tless about this conservative duo. This tweet by writer Adam Ellis pretty much sums up how I'm feeling about Paul Ryan.
I really hope the women on Twitter supporting #RomneyRyan2012 realize Paul Ryan is fundamentally against their entire gender.
Ryan is staunchly pro-life, wants to cut funding to Medicare (of which women make up 56% of the beneficiaries), opposes the Affordable Care Act, proposes deep cuts in education, and voted to defund Planned Parenthood and against the Fair Pay for Women Act. On the flip side, the right argues that policies under these two could help over 780K unemployed women (the writer also points out that "smart" women only have homes, families and businesses on their minds, NOT contraception -- O RLY?).
Let's see reactions to the Paul Ryan VP announcement from smart American women on both sides.
(Btw, I think women -- Democrat or Republican -- are smart especially if they are concerned about contraception!)
Some famous women in politics and Hollywood are seriously stoked about Romney's addition of Ryan.
Meghan McCain @McCainBlogette: Paul Ryan is an inspired and exciting choice. Sincerely. I am a big fan of his. He will make an excellent Vice President. #RomneyRyan2012.
While other female celebrities and political names don't like it one bit:
@EvaLongoria: With Romney and Ryan, the choice for women, students, veterans and the middle class couldn't be clearer… #Obama2012.
Some celebs just made jokes to settle their nerves:
@ElizabethBanks: I can confirm categorically that I am NOT Mitt Romney's VP nominee. #gamechange.
While still others (Real Housewives) ripped on Ryan's sense of style because they didn't know what else to say:
@Jillzarin: Watching Paul Ryan speak for first time. No tie??? Not good first impression. Sloppy?
Wow, quite a split! Come November, we shall truly see what America's women think of Romney/Ryan 2012.
Knowing Paul Ryan's record on women's issues, how are you feeling about him as a Vice Presidential candidate?
