It finally happened. Four years ago Sarah Palin was drawn into national politics by a McCain campaign convinced the Hillary supporters would vote for anyone with a uterus. And today, the former Alaska governor is back on the outside.
She's not on Mitt Romney's short list for vice presidents. Dick Cheney just referred to her as a "mistake." And now the official list of Republican National Committee Convention speakers is out, sprinkled with names like Huckabee, Bush, Haley, and Santorum. But there isn't a Palin in the bunch.
Wait!? Did they really leave her out? Could it be that the GOP has finally figured out what the rest of us have known for years?
Sarah Palin is an albatross hanging round the neck of the RNC and shutting her up is key to their success in 2012 and beyond. Don't believe me? Let's look at the facts:
In 2008, women especially reported being pushed toward the Obama ticket because Palin was such a turn-off. Not surprisingly, women were considered one of the big reasons the president won the election.
A year later, Palin brought significant criticism on herself for leaving office abruptly rather than finishing out her term as Alaska governor. Putting herself ahead of her state's needs further put into question her credibility and dedication to politics.
Then began the Palin family's reality show reign. Sarah Palin's Alaska was amusing, especially when she took a whiny Kate Gosselin out into the wild to roast marshmallows and go fishing. But it was a reality show. Need I really say more? Snooki does reality shows. Presidents do not.
Palin the person is still liked by Republicans. Even RNC Chairman Reince Priebu told Fox News this week, "I think a lot of her and hope she does speak." But the fact is, she is not in a primetime slot on their big night. It seems they like her better when she's quiet.
Do you think it's smart for the RNC to keep Sarah Palin in the background in 2012?

I agree with Rightide AliNoelle. We are begging for a good debate and to learn from the other side. We get it,you have feelings, we do to, but we need facts to have a debate. You can't debate feelings. Your response proved my point, and the other's points because in answer to my question, you response is "It's old." I really really want to learn from the other side, because if I'm wrong I'd like to know about it. But for you to all belittle us, and then turn around and refuse to debate that is getting old.
This is the problem you guys. You want to forget that the conservatives are being attacked first so yeah we are defensive. Also we are allowed to call something rhetoric and tell you why we call it that. I have a great example. Yesterday I was in a debate on this site about Israel's Minister of Defense praising the Obama administration. I went to the link read the article and it was a misleading tittle and article. If you read the quotes from the the Minister himself he gave no high praise. He simply said Israel has a had a good and stable relationship with this administration. Also the President of Israel gave a very compelling speech about how he feels about this administrations support of his country. These aren't facts I ignored and your damn right I dispute them as liberal bias, because that's what it is. We are scared to death because we can give example's of what we agree and disagree about with the candidate Mitt Romney, there is no way to agree fully with a candidate. Obama supporters act like they agree with everything the man has ever said and done and that is just impossible. So can we ask again, for the reason's you support Barak Obama and what you think he's done for the country in the last three and half years that deserves another term.
AliNoelle - I completely agree with you. The Stir's News & Views comments have become a Republican schmooze convention. Where did all the Liberals go? Where are the Moderates even? I miss Destiny Lewis. There are a few people around here that I don't even bother to engage with anymore....it's pointless.
When you are presented with facts you choose to ignore them or you dispute them as liberal bias. And for the comments that I've recurved back it just proves my point. I'm not hypocritical nor do I name call or anything else.
I would also like to know what facts have been presented. Real facts, not opinions that are so strongly held that they seem factual. Or opinions based on logic or known truths, not 'what's wrong with wanting everyone to have fill-in-the-blank??'.
And then we've got GETLIVES up there, now on the second post explaining why she won't debate. (cough-because she can't-cough). But keep in mind, she doesn't have time, and shut up should have sufficed. What a cop out.
Procrasta-I am disappointed in you. You never seemed the type to need a liberal gang behind you to attempt a debate. You have been doing the same thing. When we ask you to prove your point, you disappear. Like yesterday after you quoted Obama about Romney adding two thousand dollars a year to our taxes. There is a reason Obama get multiple pinocchio's for every speech he gives, and that's why its a bad idea to quote him. When I asked you where in Ryan's plan it showed your point and if you understood the difference of what you were comparing you disappeared. If you all want to be sheep fine, but at least admit you refuse to have a debate. You know a real debate, not an exchange of feeling's on a topic or putting spin on part of the story, but an exchange of idea's and factual information.
