President Obama made a campaign stop in Jacksonville during our Moms Matter Road Trip through Florida and we re-routed our plans in order to be there. The president roused a crowd of 3,000 supporters with a message tailored specifically to address the needs and concerns of middle class America.
Whether you live in Florida or elsewhere in the country, watching his stump speech gives you a good idea of Obama's plans if he remains president for the next four years.

The audience included many parents, who'd brought their children with them to hear the President speak.

While critics say Mr. Obama hasn't done enough as president over the last four years, he blamed Congress for refusing to compromise and creating a number of stalemates in Washington.
President Obama also pledged to raise taxes on people making more than $250,000 per year -- a bone of contention with some small business owners, who say it's unfair for their taxes to increase when they're using their higher incomes to create jobs and pay workers.
The president talked about his plans to improve life for America's middle class through education, mortgage refinancing, and his biggest accomplishment to date -- the Affordable Healthcare Act.
His charisma is undeniable and the crowd responded enthusiastically, responding aloud to much of what he had to say.
Tomorrow, we'll show you reaction to Obama's appearance, both from supporters and critics. In the meantime, what do you think of the president's campaign speech?

Oooooooh, evil rich people. How dare they spend their hard-earned money on whatever the hell they want, and take legal tax deductions!
Don't even bother rightside. She has no idea what she's talking about. She takes propaganda and runs with it like it's fact. Besides, let her rest her pretty little head in the best socialist country in the world.
People are overly unfair. Ann Romney was slammed for $990 T-Shirt but Michelle Obama was praised for her $6,800 jacket. How is that fair? So Romney has a horse in the Olympics? So what? Good for him I say.
If someone can't cast a vote, I'm not worried what kind of crap comes out of their mouth!

I actually find her commentary exceedingly useful. A textbook example of a content socialist drone, thrilled with under-acheiving and status-quo. Her input perfectly illustrates the dangers of Mother Government, the politics of envy, and the dangers of being an under-acheiver among many. We have a Canadian who is so desperate to keep Obama in office, that she spends her days trolling the political blogs so she can comment. Certainly makes Americans think twice about whose leg she's humping.
That's just it rightside. She is desperate to keep Obama where he is. So are most of my Canadian friends and relatives. Their money is worth more than ours for the fist time and they get away without paying the GST and Provincial taxes by coming down here for all their shopping needs. Sure, they want things to stay this way. They'd be idiots not to want things to stay the same.
I've also noticed she doesn't partake in any other types of discussions. How dull to only want to talk about that.
How dull to only want to talk about that.
Well, given the level at which she discusses politics, we should be thankful that's all she bothers with.
Romney made 21.7 million in 2010. He paid 3 million in taxes, and his tax rate was 13.9. There are calculators you can use to tell you what your tax rate is. If you put in $50,000.00 a year, married and filing jointly (like the Romneys are) my bracket is in the 15% area, while as a percentage of my taxable income is 13.3%. That is before any deductions like dependants, charity, or owned property. If I had all that, its possible to go down to the single digits for my tax rate, while only making $50,000 a year. In that scenario, would you consider yourself as taking advantage of tax loopholes or gaming the system? Or were you just trying to save your family a little money? For 3 years I used capital losses from the stock market to offset my taxable income. As well as deducting my college education and donations to charity. Was I using tax loopholes to get out of my civic duty and paying taxes? Romney paid 3 million in taxes in 2010. For someone making $50,000.00 - it would take them over 100 years to make that kind of contribution.
Plus, I am so tired of hearing about the job outsourcing already. If Romneys past was working at 7-11, how would the ads read? "Romney made a lot of slurpees at 7-11, so clearly he will continue to make slurpees as president"
"Romney made a lot of slurpees at 7-11, so clearly he will continue to make slurpees as president"
Awesome. I bow to you, Hockey!
