If you believe Fox News and Mitt Romney, then last week, President Barack Obama really stepped in it when he "dissed" small businesses and said, "You didn't build that." Everyone on Fox (and beyond), picked up on it and Mitt Romney has used it as the battle cry for his election. He claims Obama doesn't "get" small business owners and doesn't support them.
I have two words for those who believe this crap: Hog. Wash.
He was talking about the bridges and roads, people. Simmer down now. Jon Stewart skewered Romney on his Wednesday show by showing that clearly, in his Virginia speech, President Obama was making a point about bridges and roads. He was saying that all of that kind infrastructure helped to build business and that it is all connected. But he made on tiny grammatical error by saying "that" when he meant "those." See below:
In context, what was actually said was this:
If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
It's obvious to anyone with a fourth grade reading comprehension that he meant the bridges and roads. The Romney camp is trying to spread lies and propaganda based on an out-of-context line. Do you really want to vote for someone who lies to you on purpose?
Hate Obama, sure. Vote against him if you must. But do so with the facts. When a candidate willfully manipulates the fact, he has already lost. It's sad and pathetic that Romney's campaign is stooping so low.
As for Fox News, burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice ... well, anyone who still things "faux" news is journalism needs their IQ checked, pronto.

There are plenty of factual reasons not to vote for him.
Whether you put in "that" or "those" it's still pretty pathetic what he's saying.
It DOES take more than 1 person to build a business. You need loans sometimes, who approves those? The bank. You need a clientele, the public. You need staff (sometimes, not always), you're creating jobs. What he is saying is that it's not a one person effort. We all work hard for the greater good.

All the adds do this why are we supposed to be shocked? Obama's campaign has done it, so did GW's, Clinton's, Bush Senior's... The only difference from one candidate to the next is the little (D) or (R) behind their name on the ballot. Look at the way that candidates from the SAME PARTY dig at each other. According to Obama and Hillery during the democratic primary he was inept and she was bad for America. Now she's his Secretary of State. Political adds on either side aren't for people who think.
"Does this manipulation of facts make you angry?" - YES IT DOES! You trying to sugarcoat what he SAID, trying to turn his contempt for small business into a "tiny grammatical error". If we have to interpret what he means instead of what he is saying then he admittedly murdered 300 Mexicans and a US citizen when he took executive privilege on F&F documents. After all, isn't it implied that executive privilege is only used when it will harm the President? Does that make you angry?

See, now what your ilk did with that line from that speech? Out of context and misleading. What Romney's ilk is doing with Obama's speech? Freakin' dead-on accurate. It's no less offensive when taken in context, no matter how much your ilk boo-hoos about it.
