Chick-fil-A, the tasty and delicious fast food chain famous for its Christian values, has come under attack once again for being anti-gay. It’s no secret that the company operates with biblical influence -- heck, it even closes up shop on Sundays to observe the Sabbath.
In an interview with the Baptist Press on Monday, company President Dan Cathy reasserted the family-values culture the company tries to embody. He said:
We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.
Oh my gosh, alert the presses that there is a company that espouses family values! How dare they, as a private company, stand up for their beliefs? I mean, what has this county come to? How dare they stay married to their first wives!
Side note: Do you know who else believes that marriage is between one man and one woman? Barack Obama, circa 2011.
People need to take a chill pill. If I boycotted every restaurant, clothing line, and entertainment provider, whose political ideology I disagreed with, I’d be hungry, naked, and bored. How does one’s stance on gay marriage affect chicken sandwiches and waffle fries? It doesn’t.
Chick-fil-A has gotten some seriously undeserved feedback for simply stating that they’re supportive of traditional marriage. Who cares? What does that have to do with chicken? Are they refusing to serve people based on their sexual orientation or their stance on gay marriage? Maybe that would be a story worth reporting.
Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno is even threatening to block the restaurant chain from opening a second store in the “increasingly trendy” Northwest Side ward. Why does Mr. Moreno want to deprive his constituents of flaky biscuits? Furthermore, is he going to go around to every business in his district and ask if they support gay marriage, and shut them down if they don’t? Yeah, that’ll be good for the economy.
This whole thing is silly. This is a private company, and the personal views of Dan Cathy have nothing to do with the product they provide or the service they offer. They’re not refusing to serve anyone based on their sexual orientation, race, or gender.
Give Chick-fil-A a break, and as the cows say: “Eat Mor Chikin.”

Floridamom96, what are you talking about? Gay marriage is allowed in some states, but not in the majority of states. You do know that marriage equality is a state-by-state thing, right? Maybe you live in a state where gay marriage is recognized and you don't realize that that's not the case everywhere.
http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/06/27/map.same.sex.marriage/index.html
Most gays and lesbians that I know really don't care whether or not everyone "accepts" their marriage as valid. They just want to have the legal right to BE married, with the same protections and benefits that straight married couples receive under the law. If you think that gay couples already receive this everywhere, you're sorely mistaken.
Because the BSA refused to allow the gay lobby to highjack their "brand" and use it to advance their political agenda, the gay lobby has had it in for them.
Ironically, the gay lobby understands that having gay scoutmasters is inappropriate and would be disastrous for the Scouts and their ability to attract and retain members. Thus, their campaign for gay Scoutmasters. The intent is to inflict harm on the BSA, ironically claiming it is in the name of some sort of equality effort.
The Joseph Goebbels approach is the heart and soul of left wing political propaganda.
I have nothing against homosexuals, but if I am forced to make a choice between the BSA and the gay lobby, I will support the BSA every time.
'Later folks, I am off to get some chikin!
jhslove, of course you don't have to support anything you disagree with. Unless, of course, you are a Christian who disagrees with fundamentally altering the institution of marriage. In this case you are called hateful, bigoted, homophobic and are accused of seeking to harm others by denying them something they want. We are told that we must accept the legal changing of marriage to conform to the desires of some. That we must further accept the trampling of our right to free exercise of our religion and the right to freely associate with whom we choose (anti-discrimination laws requiring businesses to welcome any and all comers). Chik-fil-a and others like them are not fighting marriage-equality. Marriage equality already exists. They (we) are fighting against the undermining of the traditional family.
jhslove, I think you misunderstood my post. I never said that same sex marriage was legally recognized everywhere in the United States. I said, essentially, that we already have marriage equality. It might be helpful for you to reread my post.
Please explain Floridamom how your life or your marriage are going to be one bit different WHEN gays are allowed to marry. What is the going to happen to you in your everyday life.
Dana, gays are allowed to marry. They have the same right to marry that I, a heterosexual woman, do.
CAILI, no. I wouldn't. I also have no problem with people who choose not to patronize Chik-fil-a because of their support for traditional marriage. You are free to do whatever you wish with your time and money.
I do have a problem with the fallacy perpetuated that gays aren't allowed to marry or don't have the same rights as heterosexuals. The truth is that people of the same sex do not have federally recognized and socially accepted unions called marriage.
Fine. Gay couples do not have the same rights as heterosexual couples, and they should.
If I were a gay woman, telling me I have every right in the world to marry a man and receive the benefits of marriage is absolutely useless, insulting, and splitting hairs.
Fortunately, same sex marriage is only a matter of time.
