Joran Van der SlootThere's a rumor going around that notorious woman murderer Joran Van der Sloot is planning to get married behind bars. And not to that big heavily tattooed dude in Cellblock C who took that pretty blond white boy under his wing for protection, but to an actual woman. That somebody out there actually wants to be Mrs. Joran Van der Sloot after he was convicted of murdering a 21-year-old woman and is suspected in the death of Natalee Holloway is a little ... odd. In other news, Van der Sloot has also asked this that his jail sentence be overturned. Wow, bam. Those are both very big life changes for Van der Sloot. Someone's getting a little bored in there.

If the marriage rumors are true, which his lawyer isn't confirming because he says he's not Van der Sloot's social secretary, it wouldn't be the first time that a prisoner has tied the knot behind bars. Apparently this happens a lot, with eligible women starting relationships with infamous criminals after they were locked up, even those accused of horrific crimes. I know there's that whole "bad boy" attraction thing, but c'mon. We won't even go into the mind of a woman who would want to do that, let alone get pregnant by this guy (yup, someone has proposed that to him, too).

Getting married might just be a sympathy play along with his request this week that his sentence be overturned. His lawyer is arguing that Van der Sloot did not get good legal advice when he was originally arrested so they are actually considering whether to rethink the 28 years he ended up getting. He was initially told, said his lawyer, that he would only get 15 if he confessed to the crime.

But if I were Van der Sloot and some woman wanted to marry me, why not do it? It's not like the 24-year-old has got much of anything else going on. His prospects are pretty dim at this point. At least he knows he has at least one friend in the world who doesn't think he's a total monster. And if conjugal visits are involved, well. We know how much Van der Sloot likes the ladies.
