In two days, two different men tried to sexually assault the same woman in her home. Shockingly, police say the reason is because her husband put an ad on Craigslist seeking someone to rape her.
The Idaho man admitted to posting the ad, pretending to be his wife asking for men to forcibly attack her because it was a fantasy of hers. The attacker was told to "force his way inside and rape the woman there and not stop no matter how much she resisted."
In the first frightening attempt, the guy showed up at her door in middle of the night. When she opened it, he asked her name and as soon as she responded, he said, "I'm here for you," before barging in. He then chased her through the house until she got her hands on the 9mm handgun she kept in the bedroom. They struggled over it, firing shots before he fled. The woman's husband returned home from work a half hour after the attack and they called the police. No one suspected him at first.
The next day, a second creep busted into her home, but this time she was able to hold him at gunpoint until the cops arrived. He told them he was simply responding to an ad in the "casual encounters" section of Craigslist he thought the victim had posted. The police were able to trace the emails to a computer at her husband's job and was charged with solicitation of rape and burglary. Court records say he admitted setting up the attacks.
This latest Craigslist crime may be the creepiest yet. Police say this woman had no idea what her husband was up to. In a weird way, there are three victims here. Those two guys didn't think they were committing an actual crime. Of course the thought of someone answering an ad like that is more than a little disturbing, but not against the law if all parties are willing.
Nevertheless, it's frightening to think of what could have happened to her had she not fought so hard. Even scarier -- the reason she was in danger in the first place. She and her husband were still together, so I can't imagine she thought he was capable of doing something so horrific to the person he once pledged to love and honor.
Do you think the guys who answered the ad should be punished too?

DUDE...thsi was totally the plot of a Law and Order SVU episode! A man was stalking his ex girlfriend and set up an ad on a site like Craig's List posing as his ex and a man responded. they set it all up and he broke in and attempted to rape her. It lloked like it was from her but really was her stalker ex.
This is exactly the same story except a husband.
Many of you, however, are arguing that they should be charged because having that kind of fantasy, and responding to that kind of add "is sick."
Many consider homosexuality to be sick.
S&M is sick.
Reading 50 Shades of Grey is sick.
Premarital sex is sick.
Having sex for any purpose besides procreation is sick.
Do you see my point.
These men should not be punished for being sick, they should be punished for recklessness. If you are going to act out a rape fantasy, you have to be super careful to prevent it from becoming actual rape (discuss face to face, safe word just in case, ect.). These men were trying to do the right thing by trying to find someone with a similar fantasy to act it out with. But they were careless, criminally so.
Im glad she has a gun and isnt scared to use it! The whole situation is wacked out tho.
Holy crap! I'm sitting here in shock. Of all the things for someone to do, this is one of the sickest, stupidest things I have ever heard. It's actually fucking insane. Maybe she's a horrible woman and made his life hell. We don't know. But no matter what she did, she didn't deserve something like that. How awful. It's bad enough as a woman to have to face this danger on our own, but someone purposely setting it up? Just wrong. As for the husband, I hope this woman gets the best lawyer there is and takes him for everything he's got, and I hope he spends some significant time in jail. As for the two guys who tried to attack her, they need some psychiatric evaluation. There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with any guy who would take someone up on an ad like this. I hope the police were able to delete the stupid ad and I hope this woman doesn't have to go through anything else like this forever.
Personally, I don't know what I'd do if my husband pulled a stunt like this. He might not have to worry about serving any jail time, if you know what I mean. :)
