Know those guys who love to cite their fave facts about famous tough talker Chuck Norris? Here's a new one for them to add to their shtick: Chuck Norris is a hateful homophobe. The martial artist, actor, and GOP big mouth activist just wrote an article for AmmoLand.com (yeah, that's actually the site's name) titled "Is Obama Creating a Pro-Gay Boy Scouts of America?" Oh man. (I wonder if he was inspired by other extreme right-wing, burning questions of our time like "Is Obama Even an American?! [Show Us the Birth Certificate]" and "Is Obama Threatening the U.S. Economy With His Evil Socialist Regime?")
Apparently, Norris is ticked off at James Turley, a high-ranking BSA official who recently announced he's going to "seek a change" to a Boy Scouts policy that bans (openly) gay Scouts and (openly) gay Scout leaders. He thinks Turley has been "prodded" by Obama's "pro-gay" administration! Gasp!
Even if that were the case, who the hell cares? It's called politics, Norris. Better yet, the politics of progress!
If Obama does have a hand in Turley's latest moves and is hoping to get the Boy Scouts to be a bit more open-minded and take a step toward Glee Town, would that really be The Worst Thing Ever? A terrifying threat to American values? Uh, no. Wouldn't it simply be another step toward squashing discrimination in another American institution? A fitting follow-up to doing away with Don't Ask, Don't Tell in the military and the Obama administration turning its back on defense of DOMA (which is more about upholding hate than an institution based on love). Obviously!
With his out-to-lunch rant, it's clearer than ever: Chuck Norris needs to be put on a spaceship along with Donald Trump, Ted Nugent, and Kirk Cameron and every other D-list celeb who can't stop spewing hateful, close-minded remarks as of late. Hey, just statin' the facts!
What do you make of Chuck Norris's rant? Do you think the Boy Scouts of America should allow gay Scouts and Scout leaders?

Yes, it really is the worst thing that could happen to the BSA. Chuck Norris is right on the money with his beliefs about the importance of the scouting program in the U.S. and the threat that Obama is to the organization. As a mother of 2 boys in the organization I am grateful that he is willing to share much needed information with me. I do not want the BSA to turn away from it's pro-marriage, pro-family stance. In fact, I would have no choice but to remove my boys from the organization if this change happened.
Yes they should allow gay scouts and leaders and if parents don't like their kids being expose to ALL people they should take their kids out and shelter them from reality.
I don't see it as discrimination. If they allow gay boys and leaders to be in scouts, then why not just make it all co-ed? I mean, let's say you have a a few gay boys in a troup and a couple of them start dating or participate in inappropriate behavior for their age? OR A gay scout leader starts something up with a gay kid? LAWSUITS galore. I think they have to minimize risks like that.
Floridamom96, you are sad and I hope you aren't raising your boys with the same ideals you hold.
dynomitesmall, what if a straight scout leader starts something with a straight kid? You don't think that could happen? Because child molesters who go after little boys are not always gay, but they are always predators. Your stupidity is astounding.
But you are right about one thing.....straight children NEVER participate in inappropriate behavior...
As for Boy Scouts, I firmly believe that it should have absolutely nothing to do with sexuality. It should be about family-friendly skill building and all the other wholesome things Boy Scouts do. I dont care if the leader or even some scouts are openly gay. But I dont want you talking about your sexual preferences to my son. This goes for anyone, not just homosexuals. I would be just as upset if a straight leader was talking about his sexuality to my kid.
Doomy, I completely agree! Finally a voice of reason!
I actually just read Chuck Norris' article and it didn't sound like a hateful, homophobic rant to me. Just because someone has a different belief system than you, doesn't make them a hateful homophobe. It sounds like he was respectfully stating his opinions. If you can't handle that, maybe you're the hateful one.
I respect Mr. Norris as an actor and an athlete. My politics happen to differ from his.
