Supreme Court’s Arizona Immigration Law Ruling May Make Life Hard For Every Mexican, Not Just Illegals

@billsfan,you obviously have NO idea what you're talking about.They DO pull you over for"looking Mexican".It happened to me when I was out there&I'm as Big a Legal Citizen as it gets,I'm Native American.The Cop who pulled me over in Phoenix was ANYTHING but Professional.He had ZERO reason to pull me over whatsoever,I broke NO Laws.He walked up&IMMEDIATELY demanded to see my Papers.I gave him My License&registration&he got REALLY shitty with me&told me if I didn't stop playing Games with Him&show him my damn Green Card,He'd have me in Detention.I explained I  was a Natural Born Citizen,An Indian&He STILL didn't believe me,even AFTER checking my License.He held me for over an HOUR while he tried to come up with something,ANYTHING on me,which,He had zero.I demanded a Supervisor&The Damn Chief If Necessary.Then it dawned on Me friggn Airpaio was The Chief,no help there.Only AFTER I threatened to call The News Station from my cell Phone&tell EXACTLY what was going on,plus,I was recording everything on it&Told them so did they let me go,but NOT before trying to take it.CONT.

After reading a lot of these comments and thinking more about everything, I'm back to where I was a year ago.....off to Canada I go. It is absolutely beautiful there and I have family there that love where they live. Looking like a better and better idea. 

CONTD.No,we DO need a serious Deportation from here,all The Bigoted bastards like those Cops need to be PERMANENTLY Removed.I used to live out there,I KNOW what goes on because The Majority of it comes thru The Rez.We warned them YEARS ago that People were dying coming into The Rez&they said IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM.If the Majority of the GOP who are THE number ONE employer of Illegals were actually held with their feet to the Fire,things would NOT have gotten this bad.I will NEVER go back there again,but I WILL continue to support Humanitarian Efforts to help save those who have fallen in The Desert from Dying trying to get here.Tell The GOP to STOP exploiting them&treating them as slaves,because they DO.It is THEIR fault Cartels now use the Border like they do,because THEY never got punished for helping bring them over The Border in The 1st damn Place!

Kaeylyn - first, there will always be abusive cops. And if you fit a certain demographic / ethnic profile that happens to be a problem in a certain area, you will be stopped more than others. I don't think there's any way to legislate that away. If I'm a cop in AZ trying to crack down on illegal mexicans, who am I stopping?? The ken doll lookalike?? Its not racism, its called police work. And, I think its absurd to say that one party employs the most illegals. It shouldn't happen, period. Because the other guy does it more doesn't make it ok for you.

@HockeyMomNJ, good thing you're not a cop then or you'd be guilty of racial profiling. It's laughable how most Americans think all "Mexicans" look alike. Ha! I've seem people born and raised in Mexico with blonde hair and blue eyes. I'm Latina (not Mexican) and even with dark hair and brown eyes, I've passed for things other than what I am -Italian, Portuguese, etc. That's the flaw with racial profiling. You need a serious wake up call if you didn't know that Latin Americans come as dark/light as any race because most of us are mixed. Oh and nice try thinking all illegals are Mexican, a good chuck actually come up from South and Central America before finally crossing over from Mexico. Mexico has its own illegal immigrant problem from people who end up not making it to the US.

AI, thanks for the wake up call. Let me ask you, what percentage of illegal mexican immigrants have blond hair and blue eyes?? I don't think all mexican people look alike. And if you read my post, I never said that all illegals are mexican - but that is the major issue that AZ has. Think of 9/11 for a second. We know the statistics show that terrorism in the US is done by mostly men of a certain age range from countries in the Middle East. But while keeping our country safe is important, its obviously much more important not to upset or offend people. So let's stop and check asian businessmen, white grandmothers, handicapped kids in wheelchairs, and college kids from europe. Make sense???? Ofcourse not....When trying to keep our country safe, how many lives kept safe makes it worth it to offend people? And before you go there, ofcourse all mexicans legal or illegal are not criminals. Just like not all middle eastern men of a certain age group are terrorists. But if you look at criminal stats in states with illegal immigration problems, the numbers speak for themselves. But let's throw all that data out the window....because HEAVEN FORBID somebody gets mistaken for a mexican and has the gall to actually ask you for proof of citizenship!! I can totally see how that 15 minute period of showing proof would just ruin your entire life. The safety of all citizens needs to go out the window, because its more important not to offend....

Vanessa, I also have to comment on your point. While I agree that nothing will stop people from trying to seek a better life, they should do so legally. As to your argument about the specific jobs, let's look at an example. There are 6 states with illegal immigrant population under 5000. Now, either those states are a nasty filthy mess because there are no people being janitors and maids...........Or, there are legal citizens doing those jobs getting appropriate wages for their work. Which do you think it is??? Ps - the unemployment rate in Vermont is 4.6% roughly. There are plenty of gardners, janitors, maids, nannies, - even all kinds of good restaurants there! There just aren't enough illegal immigrants there to come in and take those jobs by being willing to take much less money for them. The jobs are still being done.

Good, just keep repeating that over and over and over again until you "imprint" on it, convince yourself it is true, and then you can use it to manufacture the anger necessary to protect yourself against reality and maintain you partisan political rage.
