A journalist has tracked down a notorious female serial killer, and found she is living on a tropical island, is remarried, and has three young children, one of whom she is still breastfeeding. Karla Homolka is one of Canada's most horrific serial killers. When Karla was in her early 20s, she and her then-husband, Paul Bernardo, abducted, raped, tortured, and killed two teenage girls. They also drugged and raped Karla's own younger sister, Tammy, who died as a result of the drugs they fed her. Paul remains in prison, but Karla struck a plea deal with authorities that allowed her to serve only 12 years in prison. This is the first time it's been known that she has remarried and, shockingly, has three children.
The journalist, Paula Todd, used an Internet tip to find Karla on the isle of Guadeloupe. Their conversation is now in a self-published e-book called Finding Karla: How I Tracked Down an Elusive Serial Child Killer and Discovered a Mother of Three.
This discovery brings up a whole set of questions. Are her young children safe? What about her neighbors? What about anyone who crosses her path? This, says the writer, is part of the reason she tracked Karla down -- because Canadians were worried she was out somewhere repeating her crimes. And Karla and Paul's crimes were heinous and despicable -- one young woman they tortured and raped over three days. They also videotaped everything.
Karla originally convinced authorities that she was forced to do the crimes by Paul. But it was later proven that she was a willing participant -- including raping the women herself. And raping her own SISTER. Any murder is horrific, but these are far from "young, dumb, and made a horrible mistake" murders. These are calculated, cruel, and show a complete lack of any kind of human feeling.
Legally, Karla did her time, and she is allowed to now live how she likes. Many people are saying that she should be left alone. However, she brutally took the option of living a life and having children from three other completely innocent women. It's hard to feel sorry for her being bothered by the press.
Karla stopped talking to the journalist after talking to her lawyer. But one thing she said before she clammed up was rather chilling. The writer, trying to get Karla to open up, complimented her on her parenting skills -- which included Karla breastfeeding one baby in front of her. Karla reportedly snapped, "That’s funny that you think you can judge that after seeing me this short time."
If I were her neighbors, I'd move.
Do you think notorious killers should be left alone after doing their time?

no I dont, I think they should be dead, I dont give a flying f*ck if they "changed". she took the lives of 3 innocent women and now shes off having kids, lets see how she can f*ck these kids up, lets see how long it takes before she becomes the next casey anthony. I feel sorry for these poor girls who didnt get the chance to live a full life and experience everything they could have
F-ing sick. I hardens my heart. I feel terrible for her children. I believe some people can change but I don't think murder/ rapist/ child abusers are capble of change. This woman raped and killed her own sister, she is unhuman.
Wow, Lydia, and I thought your drivel about all single fathers being child molesters was bad... please, take your trolling elsewhere.
Not only do i feel that she spent no where near the amount of time that she should have spent, i feel this question was already answered when the statement was made that Karla originally convinced authorities that Paul forced her to do the crimes but it was later PROVEN that she was a willing participant., including the raping of two women plus her own sister, her own blood? and nothing was stated about her feeling remorseful about those horrific crimes, I'm sorry vengeance is mine sayeth the lord but he said nothing about acting stupid, and keeping the safety of others wide open, who says she's not out there still doing it? serial killers are well known to take a break and step right back into the business, as if they never left, and who is she to snap at someone because she committed those heinous acts so don't go looking for trust, and still she lied, and would have gotten away with it! No there's compassion and then there's stupid keep her on watch, it is also a known fact that serial killers like to prove their prowess and trust me they act on that impulse, if she were around me she'd definately have to wear the badge of shame as they have to here in america, and register herself as a sex offender, she after all was the one who gave up her rights to privacy when she placed the nails in those women and her sisters coffin, this was not stealing a loaf of bread, this was robbing lives.
If there was any justice in the world, this woman- and her murderous ex-husband- would have been put down like rabid dogs. It is blasphemous that she was allowed to walk away from killing other people's children and then go on to some sort of fairy-tale ending on a tropical island having and raising her own kids. And what kind of amoral, loathsome freak would marry and reproduce with her, other than the kind she was already married to before? Those poor kids ...
TripleC14: Canada does not incarcerate people for nearly as long as those convicted of similar crimes in the U.S. They also do not have the death penalty, as with the majority of socialist countries. I live near Canada and know a handful of Canadian people who came here and became U.S. citizensbecause they were disatisfied with the Canadian government. As well, I have lived in the U.K, went there with an open mind about socialism, left disliking it. No amount of plea bargaining in a case like this inthe U.S. would have resulted in such a light sentance.
The Canadian "justice" system is LAME. This woman should have been locked up, key thrown away and left to the other inmates.
I'm Canadian. There are a lot of things about Canada that I do agree with - the classic gun control, death penalty stuff - but when it comes to the Americans' long jail terms and the publishing sex offenders for everyone to see, let me tell you, you guys have got it 100% RIGHT.
I'm so pleased Jerry Sandusky is getting his ass sentenced in the US - in Canada he'd probably get a stern talking to and a ten year jail term, out in 5 for good beahaviour.
OK, rant over.
