A journalist has tracked down a notorious female serial killer, and found she is living on a tropical island, is remarried, and has three young children, one of whom she is still breastfeeding. Karla Homolka is one of Canada's most horrific serial killers. When Karla was in her early 20s, she and her then-husband, Paul Bernardo, abducted, raped, tortured, and killed two teenage girls. They also drugged and raped Karla's own younger sister, Tammy, who died as a result of the drugs they fed her. Paul remains in prison, but Karla struck a plea deal with authorities that allowed her to serve only 12 years in prison. This is the first time it's been known that she has remarried and, shockingly, has three children.
The journalist, Paula Todd, used an Internet tip to find Karla on the isle of Guadeloupe. Their conversation is now in a self-published e-book called Finding Karla: How I Tracked Down an Elusive Serial Child Killer and Discovered a Mother of Three.
This discovery brings up a whole set of questions. Are her young children safe? What about her neighbors? What about anyone who crosses her path? This, says the writer, is part of the reason she tracked Karla down -- because Canadians were worried she was out somewhere repeating her crimes. And Karla and Paul's crimes were heinous and despicable -- one young woman they tortured and raped over three days. They also videotaped everything.
Karla originally convinced authorities that she was forced to do the crimes by Paul. But it was later proven that she was a willing participant -- including raping the women herself. And raping her own SISTER. Any murder is horrific, but these are far from "young, dumb, and made a horrible mistake" murders. These are calculated, cruel, and show a complete lack of any kind of human feeling.
Legally, Karla did her time, and she is allowed to now live how she likes. Many people are saying that she should be left alone. However, she brutally took the option of living a life and having children from three other completely innocent women. It's hard to feel sorry for her being bothered by the press.
Karla stopped talking to the journalist after talking to her lawyer. But one thing she said before she clammed up was rather chilling. The writer, trying to get Karla to open up, complimented her on her parenting skills -- which included Karla breastfeeding one baby in front of her. Karla reportedly snapped, "That’s funny that you think you can judge that after seeing me this short time."
If I were her neighbors, I'd move.
Do you think notorious killers should be left alone after doing their time?

@Lydia, After Homolka struck the plea bargain deal, the videotape evidence surfaced, showing both Homolka and Bernardo committing the horrific crimes.
Fact: the videotape evidence shows that Homolka was a very willing participant (some think she was the actual "mastermind").
Yes, her husband abused her. I'm sure many commenters here have also suffered abuse at the hands of a man. It is no excuse for participating in torture, terror and murder. At the least, she could have reported her husband to the authorities. Not only that, she had ample opportunities to leave him.
She's sick and twisted and will never change.
The "miscarriage of justice" was perpetrated on the young victims, their families, and society at large, not Homolka.
Lydia is an uneducated moron and should be shipped off to a planet of Amazons where she belongs.
I've watched this case on the ID channel and video clips of this woman's home videos with her husband shows her as an ACTIVE PARTICIPANT, I doubt in order to "coerce" her into these crimes he had to do more than say "Lets kidnap, rape, and kill some bitches!"
She's sick and she should be put down like a rabid animal.
Taking the lives of two young girls is one thing, but your own sister, too? Raping your own sister? That scum makes my blood boil. Her children deserve so much better.
Whats scarier is what are her children going to turn out and be like. Not only do they have her genes and I personally believe that character traits are passed down, but growing up with a psychopath that is unable to feel compassion and remorse what are these kids going to feel. I saw this when I was younger I remember my sister and I watched a movie about it and it was the first time we actually choose to turn a movie off was when she started on her own sister ugh so gross.
