What Do You Think of President Obama's Immigration Decision?

President Obama's decision to allow young illegal immigrants to remain in the country is stirring up strong opinions among Republicans and Democrats alike.

Some view Mr. Obama's decision as a compassionate, ethical choice-- After all, these immigrants didn't make the decision themselves to enter the US illegally-- They were brought here by their parents.

Others say it doesn't matter who made that choice-- The fact is that these young immigrants are here illegally, taking jobs and resources that rightfully belong to legal immigrants and American citizens.

There's plenty to talk about here and that's why we're putting the issue to our political bloggers this week, asking them what they think about the President's new immigration policy.

We'll be hearing from them all week long-- In the meantime, what are your thoughts on the matter?

The conversation on this topic has been buzzing all weekend long on our Moms Matter Facebook page, with some calling the president compassionate and others asserting that the president made this immigration policy shift in a not-so-subtle effort to win the Latino vote in swing states. Check out just a few of these moms' thoughts:

"So if you break the law long enough... It becomes legal?" wrote Marcy. "BS."

"My nephew married an illegal immigrant,she came over w|her parents when she was 3," wrote Stephanie. "I don't think she should be deported for her parents choices.. they made that choice for her. There are lots of things we don't like.. But turn the tables.. What would we do for a better life? Punish the parents, not the children."

"Those kids will get the jobs and the college money long before your kid will," wrote Karen. "Think about all that work you've done. All the taxes you've paid. Guess whose kid goes to college and whose stays home. and guess whose money will pay for those illegals to go to college and take your kids' jobs. Ticked off yet?"

"All who are indignant about this need to learn a lesson in the history of this country. WE took it away from the native Americans who were living here," wrote Evelyn. "Unless we are full Native American, then our ancestors were immigrants to this country. Stop beating your chest and proclaiming to be a true American citizen if your origin was European or whatever... I think the President is right, very moral and understands the difficult situation these young people are in."

"Many of these "children" are well into their 30's and I do not see it as cruel to not allow them to continue to benefit from the crimes of their parents," wrote Nicole. "Has anyone bothered to notice the unemployment rate and limited opportunities for our own youth?"

"I understand anger against those adults who come here illegally, but anger against people who had no choice?" wrote Anamaria. "Young people brought as children who grew up here and know no other country, home or even language? How can you be so angry at them? It's not their fault! Where is your compassion people?"

it's like a statute of limitations, something other crimes have, so yes marcy, if you break the law long enough it becomes legal. For everyone complaining about the jobs they are "stealing" from our youth, you should focus on the fact that your youth may not do as good a job or be as hardworking as the illegal immigrant who was hired instead. You sound like overprotective parents who wish the star soccer player breaks a leg so your crummy player gets a turn instead of pushing your kid to try harder and beat that kid out on merit. Let's be real, most illegal immigrants are taking jobs most Americans deem themselves too good for anyway. I don't know many young Americans who are willing to take minimum wage jobs and scrub toilets, all because their parents told them they were special, so obviously they are too special to work hard at a job that is beneath them. Newsflash: most illegal immigrants have more than one job, even in this economy, yet how many unemployed Americans are there? Sounds like a disparity in effort put forth, if you ask me, on the part of us good ole Americans.

This is unlawful. I live in a small state that is over run with illegals,Irish, Asian, and Hispanic. Our schools cannot afford this, our hospitals cannot afford this and for the past 2 years, 100% of DUI deaths in my town are from illegals. We can;t afford that either. My family jumped through hoops to get to the USA, they can do the same.

Obama did the right thing. Babies brought to the US without papers did not choose to break the law and don't deserve to be punished for the sins of their parents.

I am in no judgeing Iam only giving my thoughts. I am a single mom, raised 2 children on my own. Could not get any kind of assistance because I always made a few dollars over the limit for government help. My children and I struggled but we survived. I lost my son 2 yesars ago to alcohol because of his Tourretts he was not able to work, which meant no insurance so it was a struggle constantly. He is at peace now. My daughter is in colledge not and gets a pal grant but nothing is free or low income for her because her mother ( still a single parent) works for a living.!! I know these children did not have a choice in coming to this country and I know that they would be as lost as I would in Mexico. But I really feel things should be done done for the citzine first. We as a country always forget our own who struggle daily for the a simple life, just because we are proud and try to do the best. We so need to see what is in our own back yards before we look across the borders.

I agree that this is totally unfair to the people who ARE here legally, citizens of the U.S. who are NOT breaking the law. I am not an uncompassionate person - far from it. But when my 19 year old son is unable to get a job, what is going to happen when our job market is flooded even further by these people? It is really kind of scary. They should have to go through the same channel as everyone else. I have no opposition to allowing people into the country, and in fact feel it is a good thing. But for them to get a FREE PASS is Ridiculous

This was illegal and immoral, OH for the one that said if your not Native your an immigrant yes the whites came and took our lands, but that doesn't mean that what happened 200 odd years ago doesn't make coming here illegally now or in the last 50 years right! Come here the right way or not at all! Anyone that's not legal should be shipped back!
