Wow. It really is never too late, and 85-year-old Joseph Pinksy is proof: The World War 2 Veteran just graduated from college, receiving his Associate's Degree from Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, N.Y. this week.
Can you imagine?! Pinsky went straight from high school to war, serving in the Phillipines with the U.S. Navy. After being discharged in 1946, he worked in retail for 15 years. Finally he landed at the U.S. Postal Service, where he had a 36-year career. By the time he retired, he was ready to relax. But his wife Rosalind had other ideas.
"I said to him, what are you gonna do when you retire? You have to do something!"
Pinksy enrolled in college, he says, "to waste time. Cause she says, 'Get out of the house!'"
Wise wifely counsel, if you ask me. Because even though it took Pinsky 10 years to complete the program (for various health-related reasons), he did it! At 85! Not only is that a huge and rare accomplishment, all that learning is probably what's kept him so remarkably young and sharp. Gotta keep the mind active!

The best part? Pinsky actually wants to continue his education. Will Rosalind be as supportive this time? Perhaps not after the time she walked into his school to find her husband "surrounded by a load of women. Playing some kind of video game. I said, 'No more!'"
I say go for it, Joe!
Can you imagine graduating from college at the age of 85?
