The "Soccer Mom Madam" finally speaks. In an exclusive interview with Matt Lauer, Anna Gristina tells her side of a seedy story that nabbed a million headlines and even inspired a Law & Order: SVU episode.
Just to refresh your memory, Gristina is the suburban mom and wife accused of being a high-powered madam who ran a multimillion dollar escort service in Manhattan.
In her first jailhouse interview, she says that her arrest is "decimating" her family.
She told Lauer,
My husband is having a really hard time holding it together and my son the young one ... He knows I am in jail. After three months he came to see me here. He cried the whole time and begged to stay with me.
Gristina admits to running a "matchmaking" service inspired by Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker. But instead of servicing "single and seeking," it was "married and seeking," she said, comparing it to a married version of Match.com. She continued,
I think for me I have it easy. I think it's my family who suffer, because I'm able to at least hide in here from it all. My children, they get followed by the press. My husband almost got run off the road yesterday by press. It's caused my son to come out of school at one point. It's caused my daughter to suffer from anxiety and she's seeing a doctor. It's just decimating my family.
It is a shame her kids have to suffer. But honestly, what does she expect? Of course she is innocent until proven guilty, but even her so-called above board matchmaking service would be fodder for gossip and teasing in most neighborhoods. It's sad that her family has to endure this humiliation for her alleged mistakes. Bottom line, if you are even accused of doing a crime, everyone in your life pays the price. Even upper-middle class suburbanites should know that.

Honestly, she's not hurting anyone. Its not like she's selling children for sex, or running a drug ring.
The woman should have been left alone.
Completely agree with the4mutts.
It's hard to feel sympathy for her when it's apparent her morals are so lacking. Even if it was just a site to cater to married men, it's a site that perpetuates disgusting and harmful behavior. I just feel bad for her family. I remember not seeing my mom as a child for weeks on end and it was awful. Thankfully it wasn't because she was in prison.
I don't imagine she had any concerns about the families she was potentially "decimating" whose husbands and fathers availed themselves of her services. Oh sure, these men would have hooked up with some mistress anyway, but why would any self-respecting person make themselves party to such behavior? I guess to Ms. Gristina other people's families were only important insofar as she could enrich herself at their expense. Please. Don't expect people to feel sorry for you because you wantonly screwed up your own family's life out of sheer greed.
I really don't find it absurd to be worried about her children. Yep, her "profession" is pretty... well, whatever. However, that does not really say a whole lot about how she does or doesn't love her children; how she does or doesn't shelter them or really anything else regarding her as a parent.
I've known some strippers who are amazing mom's.
I have known some professional fighters who are amazing dads.
This is like saying that if your father is a politician, then the kids will be raised with no morals.
She has every right to be concerned abourt her children being hurt here. Just because she's got a pretty gross profession does NOT make her a terrible parent.
