It goes without saying that supporters of Mitt Romney and President Obama have very different views of which candidate is best suited to fix the economy. Many Democrats, if not more Democrats than Republicans, are in a dire state of financial emergency. These last five years have been a financial struggle for everyone and, yes, even Democrats want to see it turnaround.
According to recent reports, Mitt Romney’s solution to strengthen the economy is not to create more jobs but to implement a plan that includes firing teachers, firefighters, and policemen.
Does that make sense to anyone?
When the economy crashed in 2008, our nation faced the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression in 1929. When I voted for Obama in 2008, I voted for him knowing that it would take more than one term to fix the economy that had been in an economic decline for years before Obama took office. When George W. Bush took office in 2000, he inherited a stable and strong economy. By the time he left in 2008, however, Republican policies and initiatives crashed our economy, leaving President Obama and his new administration to pick up the pieces.
And since then, I've experienced personal losses and been a witness to many friends suffering as well. Just last month, my father-in-law, a commercial real estate developer, lost ownership to the biggest source of income in the family business. This source of income was the foundation of the family business for the last 15 years and the source that guaranteed my husband’s salary for the last eight.
Thankfully, we were as prepared as we could be for what was to come. After making many changes to our lifestyle in the last few years, this year we faced our biggest decision yet. Deciding what to do about our two biggest expenses, the mortgage and school tuition. Selling our home would mean selling it at a loss leaving us with no equity and, therefore, no down payment for a new home. The other option was getting rid of private school.
Since selling the house was really no option, we did not re-enroll two of our three children into the private school that we have been in for the last seven years. Our oldest son will be the only one to remain in the school only because he is nearing middle school, putting his education at a more critical turning point than the younger two children.
Deciding between which of our three children would receive the better education was a low point for us. But despite our situation, I know how lucky we are compared to other families that have lost their homes, their cars, or their jobs. Still, I am hopeful that things will get better for us but I know that it will take more more time. There is still more work to do but ultimately, and I know that Obama is the best candidate to help move my family and this nation forward.

Does reaching the bottom of the barrel make sense to Democrats?
THERE IS NO MORE MONEY.
NO MORE MONEY.
They cannot even fathom the idea.................................
What shall we pay them with? Potatoes?
Democrats have in power since 2006. They are not totally blameless in this. Obama had a super majority in 2008 and he did NOTHING.
Obama is terrible. More terrible than I thought. If he get reelected, who are you going to blame for the economy then?
Bush Billsfan and repubs. Dems dont comprehend the words "no money' and "personal responsibility". Obama difnt inherit these problems blindly he KNEW. He begged, borrowed, and PLEADED to get this job. NOW he wants to like he was completely SHOCKED. Obama himself said if he didnt fix it in 3 years he would be a one term president......how about you help him keep his promise :)
DEMOCRATS controlled the House and the Senate for the last two years of Bush's presidency. I wish folks would quit blaming him! This is Obama's mess.
Obama does not want this country to recover - our current situation, to use his word, is "fine". It's to his ideological benefit to have majority of Americans dependent on the federal government - people who rely on the government to give them what they need, vote for people who will continue to give them what they need.
My kids' future is danger from Obama's policy and vision. Romney has my vote.
If there is no more money, then why are the rich getting so much richer so fast and why are corporatiosn showing record profits?
Seems like htere is plenty of money
There is PLENTY of money in private corporations, but instead of creating jobs the fat cats are sitting on their piles of money (and having it cared for really well in Switzerland and the Caymens, like Mitt who doesn't trust his own country's banking systems) and growing even richer by shipping jobs overseas. Boy, that Trickle Down Economics thingy works so well doesn't it?
Is it ever a sad day when war-hungry Republicans are talking about Police and Firemen like they are a BURDEN to society, instead of a much needed and appreciated resource. How quickly the flag wavers forget the heroes of 9/11.
And the teacher thing? Just proves that the Right wants to keep the electorate dumb as stumps...it's easier to brainwash the sheep with less progressive thinkers.
I agree with you, Nadia. Why would the States want to go back to the same policies and politicians who ran the country into the ground in 2008? Just say NO to Bush two point OH.
"When George W. Bush took office in 2000, he inherited a stable and strong economy" BS! Bush took over during a severe recession. In spite of a war and the worst natural disaster in history, we went on to a booming economy, with RECORD low unemployment. Furthermore, the current Recession/Depression started in '07, six or eight months after the DEMOCRATS took over congress! Get your facts straight.
I don't think that this site is the place for politics, but since the author was able to voice her one sided opinion I'm happy to give mine. Obama is the the most incompetent president we've ever had. I could go on and on why I think that but honestly I'm just too tired from actually having to work for a living.
