Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's a video of Obama, singing "Call Me, Maybe"! I think you should watch it. It's the "Call Me Maybe" lip syncs to end all "Call Me Maybe" lip syncs.
Thanks to someone with a very creative mind and an even better eye for editing, this video shows our president "singing" his face off to Carly Rae Jespen's newly iconic pop song. A little bit hilarious, a lot a bit awesome, this video does more than just make the kids chuckle, it makes the kids think, again, about Obama.
Watch!
I think my favorite part is when he says "baby."
As November draws nearer, we'll see election ads come and go, we'll hear countless robo-calls, and we'll undoubtedly be inundated with Romney/Obama propaganda everywhere we turn, but none of that mass-marketing can be, or will be, as effective as a homemade viral video. Its impact and its influence can't be underestimated, and its existence might be just what Obama needs.
Obama's star has been fading and many have wondered if he can reclaim the youth vote that propelled him to victory in 2008. But if more of his young supporters come up with innovative, viral, and well, youthful ways to get his name in out there, it could be the boost he needs.
And right now, there's nothing more catchy and young than a "Call Me Maybe" cover. The challenge will be coming up with the next idea.
Do you think viral videos will play a key part in the 2012 election?

The fact that you even need to ask the question is ALMOST as sad as the fact that you kinda sound hopeful about it.
Here's what I think: I'm daring to believe that the 53% of recent college graduates who can't find a JOB right now have at least enough intellectual acuity to consider the candidates based on their merits, rather than on STUPID music videos. If you think crap like this is going to bring back the youth vote, you haven't been paying attention to the dire straits this country is in. You must not be struggling to put food on your table or a roof over your head like some of us. Congrats on that. But here in the real world, our concerns are a bit more practical than whose YouTube video gets the most hits.
And re: the Fair Pay Act, maybe facts would be helpful in defusing this "war on women." Like the fact that there are already multiple laws in place to protect pay equality, and the fact that on average women make MORE than men for the same job when all factors are taken together.
