How can Republican and Democratic moms learn to get along, work together, and most importantly, set an example for our children and others?
Stop calling each other names, and for Pete’s sake, stop excusing those who do.
Unfortunately, this phenomenon of calling women with differing political views horrible names comes almost exclusively from the left side of the aisle. Women on the right have been called traitors, bitches, and meat bags with lipstick (just to name a few of the more charming barbs).
How is anyone supposed to have a rational conversation with all of that vitriol being flung about? Do liberals really think that Republican women are going to want to sit down and have a friendly chat about policy when they know that they’re eventually going to be called c*nts?
But, but, but ... Rush Limbaugh! Slut! Ok, that happened. The king of conservative talk radio called a woman wanting the government to subsidize her sex life a slut to make a point or a cause a media stir or for whatever reason he did, and I don’t believe he should have. But it’s hardly comparable to comments Republican women get on every day ending in ‘y.’
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley was recently called a traitor to her gender. Less than two months later, she had her face plastered to a piñata before it was between with a stick by a union group. Commentator S.E. Cupp had her face photo shopped in a lewd act that was published in Hustler.
Potential First Lady Ann Romney, one of the sweetest, most motherly women married to a politician that still calls her his soul mate, has not escaped the attacks. If people are going to call a woman with MS that has survived cancer and raising five boys into upstanding men nasty names, what hope is there for the rest of us conservative mamas?
The list goes on and on.
This practice of bashing conservative females has gotten so out of hand that one GOP spokesperson snapped in an online rant that we should “hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector."
By the left’s own rules according to Bill Maher, this shouldn’t bother anyone, because he excused his own attacks on Sarah Palin by pointing out that as a public figure, she’s fair game. Last time I checked, Senators were public figures. So either the left is going to have to condemn Maher calling Palin the grodiest name in American insults, or calm down about the right potentially doing the same thing.
Republicans and Democrats will never see eye to eye on everything, but one thing I hope we can agree on is to stop needlessly insulting each other. Capishe?

This is a seriouly awful; article; can't beleive The Stir would put up with such nonsense...have you see nhow nancy Pelosi was treated? Michelle Obama? Hillary/ To pretend this is a left issue means you have your head buried in the sand...Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.) wrote a post on Facebook that included this gem:
texas - So what is it? It's ok for Limbaugh and any of the others on the conservative side to be excused of it but Maher isn't? You either want all name-calling to stop or you don't. Period.
Who the hell cares who "does it worse" or "who started it"? Are you 6 years old? It happens on both sides.
As someone else pointed out, this is not the "plea for peace" the title implies it is.
Nunya: "any politician who doesn't publicly denounce any "entertainer""
It's not "any politician", but the POTUS.
Nunya: "If you feel everyone should boycott every comedian who has ever said something offensive"
I never said that.
Nunya: "Democrats aren't the ones trying to take away women's rights and choices for reproductive care" Then who is? And can you give an example of this "taking away"?
Nunya: "I know I will never agree with your conservative ideals." "Never" is a long time. You might change.
I understand that many on the Left have a hard time with facts, but armed with more facts and less hypotheses and fictions, you will make better arguments for your side.
jaga, I'm surprised you don't take more of a stand for the women and children that have been so viciously attacked. And to many, the degree does matter, at least to an extent.
But then, for the Left, it was really never about women, but more about power for the left wing.
What sort of stand are you suggesting I take? Please explain to me how I'm endorsing this vicious attack on women and children and please be specific on how I'm "not taking a stand".
Nunya: "No, Texas, NEVER"
Whatever. Nunya's examples of "the ones trying to take away women's rights & choices"? *Crickets*.
jagamama: "What sort of stand are you suggesting I take?"
It's pretty simple: In a meaningful way, denounce at least the worst offenders and urge your fellow travelers on the Left to do the same. Admit that the problem is far worse on the Left, instead of ignoring the truth and living in denial. Jaga's response will be *crickets*
Ever heard of "sins of omission"? A failure to speak out can be just as injurious as malicious speaking out.
I know it will never happen. The Left/Democrats turn a blind eye, a deaf ear when the offender is a member of their own cult.
The Left and the way they ignore facts & figures: it's like Obama yesterday and one of the biggest flubs of his career: "The private sector is doing just fine". Ouch.
Out-of-touch. Clueless.
