Gendercide is a serious problem in many countries in the world, but it isn't in the United States. The anti-abortion right would like us to believe otherwise. A new video from anti-abortion group Live Action called Gendercide: Sex Selection in America was shot undercover at a Planned Parenthood clinic and it claims gendercide is a widespread issue in the US. It lies.
The video is making a "feminist" argument against abortion claiming that baby girls are being compromised, but it's a fabrication. While there is some evidence of sex selection among Asian immigrants in this country, it doesn't seem absolutely to be from abortion. It could be from IVF. More importantly, in general, sex ratios in the US are normal.
So why are we being sold this lie? See below:
I am always happy to keep an open mind when it comes to the opposition's view point. But this makes it pretty difficult. Blatant lies are pretty off-putting.
Giving misinformation isn't the way to win supporters. It's a cheap way to get an agenda across and assumes that people are too stupid to do the research themselves. It also cheapens their argument.
Pro-choice does NOT mean pro-abortion and I believe that women should make choices for their own bodies. They should be able to have abortions for whatever reason they need them. It isn't Planned Parenthood's choice to make. It isn't their job to judge the reason a woman seeks a pregnancy termination. It's every individual woman's choice.
I am much more likely to be swayed by facts than deliberate lies. It's so manipulative and wrong.
Further, it takes a real problem that we should care about it and it twists it into a sick agenda. How could anyone possibly side with an organization so twisted and manipulative?
Feminism is about choices for women. Organizations like Live Action purport to care a whole lot about unborn women, but live women? The ones carrying the "babies"? Screw them. They don't deserve the right to make choices about their own bodies.
Forget it. Don't buy it. It's a web of lies and assumes we are all idiots.
Does this make you angry?

YES! It makes me very angry that women believe the baby they are carrying in their womb is somehow their possession to do with whatever they wish. That any child anywhere is murdered while in the womb is an abomination. LiveAction and Lila Rose are American heroes. Go Lila! Keep up the good work! We should take all steps to stop murder no matter where it happens, especially inside the womb.
What are the "lies", exactly? You say that this video is full of them, but you don't go ahead and enumerate a single one.
I hadn't been aware that this was an "issue" until I saw something on my FB feed saying that there is a bill in some state outlawing this practice. If this is just a fabrication then yes it makes me angry. It makes me angry that people seem to think that they have ANY right to tell a woman what they can and can not do with their own bodies. As far as I know, you can't get an abortion after you are 20 weeks along. Which is also the same time that you get your ultrasound to find out the sex (if you choose to). So the whole thing seems unnecessary. Do I think that women should get abortions based on gender? NO. I think that abortion should be a last resort in any scenario. But the reality of the matter is that it is NOONES business but a womans and her doctors.
AliNoelle, so many things wrong with your statement that it's "NOONES business but a womans and her doctors" what she does with "her body". 1) The baby she is caring in her womb is NOT part of her body. 2) Protecting life is everyone's business. 3) What Planned Parenthood does is every taxpayer's business because our money is used to fund it.
So let me get this straight... when girl babies are killed in India, Africa, China, or somewhere else because of religious beliefs, that is a horrid practice, a crime against humanity, and it must be stopped. But when it happens in America, it is a "woman's right" and a "private issue" and "her right to choose"?????
Another ugly double standard raises its head.
I totally believe there are people out there who would have an abortion because of the baby's sex. Why not?
In a society that allows perfectly healthy women to kill a perfectly healthy baby she conceived by doing the prerequisite activity willingly, simply because she got pregnant at an inconvenient time, I can easily see women killing a baby because it's the wrong sex. Why not? There's nothing to stop her.
