How to Find Military Discounts on Memorial Day

Hero 18

memorial day discount militaryIt's Memorial Day weekend, and you know what that means: Sales! While we're used to seeing red, white, and blue banners all over car dealerships, shopping malls, and grocery stores, if you're a member of the military, you might be able to snag an extra super duper deal this weekend.

Shopping and remembering our service men and women may not seem to go together in the purist sense, but if stores are going to be offering discounts willy-nilly, why not throw in something extra for those who sacrifice so much?

Here's where you can get a great deal, if you're an American hero.

The Home Depot

This weekend all military personnel are eligible for a 10% discount on non-special Buy appliances and other products up to $500. Get your lawn chairs here, soldiers. That's active, and veterans folks. So, line up!

Lowe's

More of a Lowe's shopper? Lucky for you they also have a 10% discount for military personnel and their immediate family this Memorial Day holiday.

24 Hour Fitness

Go work out for free this weekend, if you've got a military ID. Find a 24 Hour Fitness near you and keep those six-pack abs even while you're back home.

America the Beautiful Pass

One of the best deals for active duty and veterans, this weekend you can get an annual parks pass for all of our beautiful national parks. Normally $80, this pass will get you, your family, and your vehicle into any park for free, all year round.

GM

Active duty members, reserves, and veterans -- and their spouses -- can all enjoy a discount on a new or used car at their local Chevrolet dealer that includes "Preferred Pricing, most current incentives, a 5-year/100,000 mile Transferable Powertrain Limited Warranty,5 24-hour Roadside Assistance and OnStar® standard for the first six months."

Chevrolet will also donate $100 to Cell Phones for Soldiers when you pick up a vehicle.

Hooters

And if you must, Hooters is offering free wings to military personnel with id, along with the view.

Do you know of any other great military discounts going on this weekend?

Actually NO memorial day does not stand for sales for the cheap skates. Ignorant ass! This wknd isn't about how much you can save. It's about honoring and remembering those who risked and or gave their lives for us to have the freedoms we have. JERK!

Jscott, I don't think I would have said it quite that way, but I agree with you.  As the wife of an active duty sailor, and the daughter of an Army vet, Memorial day is about remembering those who have died and served, and thanking those who are still serving... not shopping.

I could care less about the sales and deals. It's about remembering the fallen heros of our country. Like my friend CPL Mike Mayne who was KIA in 2009. RIP buddy.

I'm the wife of an active duty soldier, going on ten years. We have lost friends. Guess what? We still love our camping and sales.

Problem- almost all of those "memorial day sales" are actually year round discounts for military personnel.

Actually Lowes always has 10% military discount. But thanks anyways.

And to the first poster, you guys are the assholes. Were you there sitting next to your best friend when he lay dying from an IED? My husband was. He's the one who actually has to go through that experience while you were probably sitting at home on your lazy ass making stupid ass comments. I think those that have survived are entitled to enjoy this weekend a little more than you.

Lowes always has a military discount. I know because this is where we get our lawn care things.

Wife of active duty AF pilot currently deployed and mother of 2... Yes the weekend is about remembrance but we also appreciate the economic help too!

Sadly these sales are nothing more than the everyday stuff. :(
