Considering that the women's suffrage movement began more than 100 years ago and second-wave feminism was born almost 50 years ago, you would think we as a country would be further along when it comes to gender discrimination. Unfortunately, it feels like we've have been thrown under the political bus more than ever in the past year (see: the GOP's war on women). So it's no wonder that President Obama has made the point in recent days to reiterate his strong record on women's rights -- and, for that reason, that NARAL Pro-Choice America has endorsed him, calling him "a leader who stands with women and their families."
They've even released a video that really gets at the heart of why President Obama deserves women's votes this fall. (Hint: His pro-choice stance is just one reason.) Check it out ...
That's right -- "opportunity and equality don't come without a fight," but at least American women know that when they vote to re-elect President Obama, they're getting a president who is willing to stand up and fight for us. To protect our right to make decisions about their own health and to champion our right to be on equal footing as men in the workplace. And to treat us as one half of the country, instead of a minority or "special interest group."
The video definitely echoes major points Obama made when he spoke at Barnard College in NYC yesterday, noting that the dearth of female lawmakers in Congress is "one reason we're actually refighting long-settled battles over women's rights" and lamented that the shortage of female chief execs at major companies is "one reason many workplaces still have outdated policies."
So, it's never been clearer: Obama's the best choice for those of us who value our freedom, opportunity, and equality and the same for future generations of women. Given his track record and obvious insistence on continuing to fight for women's rights in a second term, no Republican candidate can even compare.
What do you make of NARAL's video? Do you agree that Obama is the best choice for women and girls?

Nope. More women than men have lost jobs since Obama took office. How is that good for women? Social issues shouldn't be important to us right now. We need to get people back to work and get our banks running again and our stock market settled. That's what's important right now. We can't keep spending money that isn't there. We need to work on American as a country and put some of our "social feelings" aside for now. We need to buck up. There's no more fooling around.
Screw social issues.
At this point, I will pretty much vote for anyone who isn't Obama.
making others pay for women murder their children means that you are for women----WRONG it means you are against humanity period including women.
The real "War on Women" is being conducted by Democrats & the Obama Administration.
The latest polls reflect that women understand this, as more of them now support Romney over Obama.
H: "Tex - first your claim was that there was no war on women. Now it is that the REAL war on women is being waged by the Dems. LOL do you call that evolving or shall we skip straight to the flip-flopping."
What you call "hate", H, is what conservatives call "reporting the facts" -- lol! And I never claimed "there was no war on women" -- I've always maintained that there is.
Contrary to what Obama says, though, and where you're confused is: it comes from the Left. His construct of a "War on Women" was fabricated from whole cloth and everyone except TrueBelievers understand that.
Female unemployment during Obama's tenure has risen from 7% to 8.3% with no plan, no relief in sight. There's the helpless "Julia" from Obama's campaign website who tells American women they are stupid and dependent and cannot succeed without him and government intervention at every stage of their lives. Check it out -- it's insulting and chilling: http://www.barackobama.com/life-of-julia.
& there's ultra-misogynist Bill Maher (who donated $1 million to O's campaign) who denigrates women in language which should not be repeated, as do plenty other male & female "celebrities" on the Left. Yet, Obama & the Left will not call Maher out, nor the others. (1 million buck buys a lot!)
Facts & evidence belie your assertions, H.
The Born-Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002 is an Act of Congress.
It extends legal protection to an infant born alive after a failed attempt at induced abortion. It passed the House of Representatives and was voted on unanimously by the Senate.
This is the same Act, with near identical language (then later, identical), that Barack Obama voted against in the Illinois Senate, not once, not twice, but three times. 2001 (voted "no" in Committee, then "present" on the Floor); 2002 (voted "no" on the Floor and made a speech); 2003 (voted "no" on the Floor).
He lied about his record of votes for the next four years, finally admitted the truth on August 18, 2008 in the "New York Sun".
This is not a man who is the "best candidate for women & girls", (nor boys either).
Who votes to kill a baby that was born alive?
zach: "@texas, YOU are chilling and insulting. Bill Maher for president."
Come again, zach? What's that you're trying to articulate?
