Obama's New Ad Calls Mitt Romney a Job-Killing 'Vampire': Let the Games Begin! (VIDEO)

If you weren't yet convinced that the 2012 election would shape up to be a full-on blood bath, the latest campaign ad out of Camp Obama-Biden makes it clear that the incumbent isn't fooling around. Hell no. With his new spot, entitled "Steel," he's going for Mitt Romney's jugular -- and voters' heartstrings.

The ad focuses on the fate of GST Steel, which was acquired by Romney's firm Bain Capital, interspersing testimonials from former steelworkers with Romney soundbytes about "knowing how business works" and feeling heartbroken when he sees "millions of Americans without work." And speaking of blood bath, these steelworkers' stories really do paint Romney as a heartless "vampire" job killer. Ouch!

A steelworker for 30 years, Joe Soptic says:

They made as much money off [GST] as they could and they closed it down, they filed for bankruptcy, without any concern for the families or the communities. It was like watching an old friend bleed to death.

Ugh, heart-wrenching. And that's not even the worst part. By the end, I was definitely tearing up. Here's the two-minute ad in full ...

There's a lot of tongue-wagging that this ad is "brutal" and is setting the tone for a Hunger Games-style, fight to the death type campaign between Obama and presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney. But I'm not so sure I'm seeing how this ad is stepping outside the bounds of the kind of ad campaigns we've come to expect in presidential elections. Not to mention that this is really the kind of ad we deserve as voters.

These steelworkers are real Americans who have had firsthand experience falling victim in the wake of a Romney leadership. Their livelihoods were directly quashed by his decision-making. Their anecdotes should speak directly to millions of voters, appealing to their emotional side maybe just as much or more than their rational side. But playing on our emotions has never been out of the question in a contentious political race. Why should it be now?

What's your reaction to the "Steel" ad? Is it too brutal or just brutally honest?

Eager to see how the Romney supporters will defend him now. I dont completey agree with everything Obama does but in this political race he is clearly the lesser of 2 evils. America will be a very sad place if Romney gets n2 office, he isnt goin 2 do ne better dn Obama, if nething everything will be a lot worse. And if Romney does become president and does a super sucky job, all the reps r still gonna blame Obama cuz they have a hard time accepting responsibility.

And over in West Virginia..... These coal miners are real Americans who have had firsthand experience falling victim in the wake of an Obama leadership. ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Baaaah! Baaaah! Doo-Doo head! Booger Brain! Vampire! Nazi! Baaaah! Baaaah!", bleated the mindless liberal sheep. "Baaaah! Baaah! Four legs good, two legs Better! Baaah! Baaaah!" Ironically, if a three year old were to do the same thing, we would scold them. I am not sure which is funnier, the depths of childish name calling the democrats have sunk to, or that they have the gall to try to compare OWEbama to Romney on of all things, Jobs!!! You can't make this stuff up!!! So, Romney managed to invest enough money into an obsolete steel mill to maintain it and it's jobs for an extra ten years, and the liberals are actually going to bleat that that is "bad"? Funny how they don't even mention that it was several years after Romney left Bain that the mill was closed. Yeah, I guess OWEbama would never blame his predecessor for something he did... LOL!!! Oh and dear Maressa Brown, since you asked at the end there, it is no where close to being good enough to be called "brutal", it is the most tawdry and low-brow of agitprop, and there is nothing "honest" about it.

Seriously? Republicans have a hard time accepting responsibility???? Let's all look and see how much Obama will blame Bush AGAIN this election. Even though unemployment and gas prices spiked through the roof after he took office, and the only thing he made any realy effort to pass was his healthcare plan. Would have been nice if he would have put any focus on the economy. Oh, and FYI, if you want any credibility, please learn how to spell

Dan is one of the tribes of Israel, and the serpent by the way *Genesis 49:17 Levities are not apart of the tribes of Isreal, remember the good samaritian (Matthew 10:5) that was a Levite priest who passed by on the other side. *Luke 10:32* The state of Israel answer this! *Hebrews 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. *Revelation 5:5* The entire world will be exposed by grace and truth, because they have made pride their yoke. *John 1:17*

What a disgrace. Romney left Bain Capitol in 1999-- two years before GST Steel went bankrupt-- and now this is all Romney's fault?

Romney is a Vampire in Mormon Clothing…  under his leadership, Bain gutted companies, sucking them dry and leaving families in shambles without work or a means to provide for their children.  Is this the type of leader we want?  Read more about the role of Romney’s riches in this election and the power of his sacred undergarments at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/05/mitt-romneys-magic-mormon-underwear.html

Brandt - I don't like Mitt Romney very much but he doesn't have any freakin magic underwear. The undergarments that the LDS church provides with temple rights is not "magic." You may not realize how offensive your comment is. Besides, I am not really sure what his religion would have to do with this ad. Anyway, this ad is crap. But pretty much all of them are - from both sides. It's a campaign ad, consider the sources. They have a clear bias.

I don't like these types of ads from either side and never have. I would much rather a candidate put out an ad telling us why they are good for the job, rather than why the opponent sucks.
