Talk about a bad weekend for the family of Isabel Celis. The whereabouts of the 6-year-old Arizona girl missing since mid-April remains a mystery, and now it seems her father, Sergio Celis, is in trouble. According to ABC, the man who reported his daughter missing from her bed on a Saturday morning has lost the right to be with his two sons.
The boys, Isabel's older brothers, are now reported to be in the care of their mother, Rebecca (Becky) Celis. Which means that Becky and Sergio do not live in the same house ... already. Not looking good for dad, is it?
Per ABC News, authorities say the apparent CPS decision to bar Sergio from access to his sons does not make him a suspect in the search for the little girl. But they also say they haven't "eliminated anyone" from their list of possible suspects. Read between the lines here. Dad isn't a suspect. But he's not not a suspect either.
And if any of this is true, now he sounds like a bit of a jerk ... if nothing else.
We first heard that Becky went to work as a nurse on the morning of April 21, and that Sergio went to wake their little Isa around 8 a.m., only to find her bed empty and a screen knocked out of her bedroom window. Now we're hearing the couple doesn't live in the same house? Less than a month after the girl disappeared? Yikes!
Everyone responds differently to tragedy. I get that. But when the Celises took several days before making a public plea for their daughter's life, we were hoping it's because they were clinging to each other for support. Now it's looking more like the other -- much less heartwarming -- reason. Maybe they didn't want people digging up skeletons.
Even if Dad didn't play a role in Isabel's disappearance -- and honestly, I hope he didn't -- this whole tragic case may be bringing to light other issues inside the Celis household. If, as ABC seems to be reporting, CPS considers Sergio a serious enough threat to his older kids that he's been barred from being around them, that's a pretty big skeleton, folks. Now throw whatever has split these two parents on top of it, and this case is looking A LOT differently than it did at the beginning.

What have you thought of this whole sad case?

I can imagine a dozen reasons why a good dad might not be a fit parent at the moment. I don't think I would be myself if I were Sergio right now. For all we know he blames himself for not hearing anything, not rescuing her, for not giving her everything she ever wanted while she was home ect. I could imagine being depressed even suicidal. Not a great situation for the other kids but also not sinister.
I just don't get good vibes when a father loses custody of his children. There can't be a good reason behind it. Now, there is an article out today that state the boys were placed with their biological mother who is the ex-wife of Sergio. If this is correct, then the boys are not related to Becky, and she doesn't have them in her care. I don't know why they are separated, I don't agree with Emily, the were clinging on to each other in the interviews. They also don't seem to be the grieving types, not from what I have seen. Maybe they are apart because of something that has to do with Sergio. Becky isn't with him AND he lost custody.
Everyone has skeletons.
Well, it seems 9 times out of 10 it is the parents/care giver who ends up being responsible for a child's disappearance. Don't know if that is the case here but....
Did you even bother to read the article before you spewed your nonsense there, pamom? The article CLEARLY states the boys are with BECKY CELIS. Looks like YOU are the one who just made the entire incorrect post!
This father was odd during that press conference. He seemed like he was trying too hard to act desperate about Isabel...his voice was weird...the comment about the kidnappers making their 'ransom demands'...just very odd...and now all of this. (although in ALL fairness to him, I've never lost a child so I cannot say how I would behave/speak, etc. I just thought he was a bit off...for all I know he could have been medicated during that press conference) It's not normal for a parent to lose the children in the manner he did! The police must have had some type of credible threat/violence/reason to believe he could harm those kids to have done this.
I just hope they find this little girl...
