Occupiers Cause Mayhem on May Day

by Jenny Erikson on May 2, 2012 at 5:40 PM

occupy may dayRather than gifting neighbors with small baskets of treats this May Day, the Occupy Wall Street crowd (yes, they’re still around) decided to wreck havoc in major cities across the nation. Nothing says, “I’m a serious adult” quite like vandalism.

Occupy Oakland got started early with vandalism in San Francisco. Participants smashed store windows and cars during a mile-long trek through the city. They also slashed tires and threw bags of paint at buildings.

In New York, they mailed 10 envelopes full of white powder resembling anthrax to banks, the mayor’s office, and media outlets including Fox News. A note accompanying each package read: "This is a reminder that you are not in control ... Happy May Day."

An FBI informant in Cleveland was able to notify law enforcement about a plot to blow up a bridge over Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Occupy Cleveland officially denies involvement in the terror plot, despite the fact that Brain Baxter, Douglas Wright, and others were active participants in the movement.

Police in Seattle seized a number of items from Occupiers, including bombs, rocks, pry bars, hammers, poles, and bags of feces. Poop bombs. Seattle police recovered poop bombs from these supposed peaceful protesters.

Stories like these have come in from major cities all over the nation. An interesting observation is that most (if not all) of the mainstream media coverage mentions ‘peaceful protest’ in one sentence and ‘multiple arrests’ in the next. If these were really peaceful protests, we’d have a major, national scandal on our hands, because our right to peacefully assemble is right there in the first amendment of the Constitution. People living under dictatorships aren’t allowed to protest the government, but Americans are.

Then again, if these protests were peaceful, we wouldn’t be dealing with smashed windows, graffitied storefronts, dented cars, fake poison, or poop bombs.

The truth is that Occupy Wall Street has a long history of violence, rape, squatting, and disruptive behavior in general. The longer people condone this abhorrent activity, the longer it will continue. Grow up, Occupiers. The adults defecate in the toilet, not on police cars.

They're also causing problems here in MPLS. What's their point again?? All they are doing is causing problems and causing US, the taxpayers, money. Their point is long gone. We can't even enjoy going to some or our parks. Don't people think anymore? It's the squatting that's causing the majority of problems here along with their refuse and garbage.

It's funny . . . the Occupy Wall Street crowd acts out this way and people continue to accuse The Tea Party as being the crazy ones.

Damn, I was in Seattle yesterday, in a shop right across the street from where they were gathered.  SO glad I left BEFORE that crap happened!

Their purpose seems to lie in causing trouble and acting like fools as opposed to making a difference. If you want to fight corporate corruption, this is not an effective way to do so. They're super "enlightened" and "intellectual", aren't they?

Yet CNN is "stumped" about whether the Cleveland Occubombers were affiliated with the Tea Party or the Occupy movement.

    http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/01/overheard-on-cnn-com-where-do-anarchists-fall-on-political-spectrum/

Mainstream media is a joke.  Thank the Lord for the internet and New Media.

Clearly the Occubombers were from OccupyCleveland.

Jenny this is an extremely biased article that distorts the truth and makes sweeping generalizations. Yes, there are SOME protestors who SOME times take things too far - but not ALL Occupiers are the scoundrals you make them out to be. Just because a FEW people make poop bombs doesn't mean THOUSANDS of other prosestors weren't practicing their first amendment rights and protesting peacefull. May Day in particular was also a joint effort by multiple groups besides the Occupiers, such as Labor Unions, LGBT community members, Women's Rights Coalitions, Immigrant Rights Groups, etc. Also, your claim that if they were peacefully protesting there wouldn't need to be multiple arrests is clearly falicious. You don't think it's possible for the police to EVER be wrong? You don't think it's possible for the police to SOME times arrest peaceful protestors? What about the UC Davis students who were sitting on the ground holding hands when the cops pepper sprayed them in the face for no reason? The police aren't infallible, and clearly neither is your faulty logic. Seriously Jenny. This article is just embarassingly bad.

No SaphronScribble, you're embarrassing bad. The people you're talking about aren't even being heard because of the people like this that are causing problems all over the country. If the groups you mentioned want to be heard, they better disassociate with these idiots or they'll all be thought of in the same way. Us Americans are sick of it. Don't you realize WE can't go to our parks because of these pigs and the conditions they leave them in? What about our rights? Our tax dollars could be going for much more important things than sanitation. These people aren't even respectful enough to clean up their own shit.

People like you who stick up for them are so misinformed. Go to a  park where they gather and see how they leave things after a day. MPLS had to put up cameras to stop public urinating, defecating and squatting. Who do you think has to pay for that?

So, using your logic, all Tea Party activists are racist, inbred, wifebeating, Nascar loving alcoholics. Sounds right to me!

If these people hate corporations so much, they need to give up everything they did not produce themselves, Ipods, cell phones, bikes, even the clothes on their body and the cardboard for their signs. Let them move to the deepest hollow in West Virginia or somewhere so that they can live without the influence of "evil" corporate America amd then we dont have to witness their ridiculousness. Or, they can leave the US. Just because you are born in a country doesnt mean you have to stay there.

OF COURSE it "sounds right" to you, dreabug.  *Sigh*
