Occupiers Cause Mayhem on May Day

occupy may dayRather than gifting neighbors with small baskets of treats this May Day, the Occupy Wall Street crowd (yes, they’re still around) decided to wreck havoc in major cities across the nation. Nothing says, “I’m a serious adult” quite like vandalism.

Occupy Oakland got started early with vandalism in San Francisco. Participants smashed store windows and cars during a mile-long trek through the city. They also slashed tires and threw bags of paint at buildings.

In New York, they mailed 10 envelopes full of white powder resembling anthrax to banks, the mayor’s office, and media outlets including Fox News. A note accompanying each package read: "This is a reminder that you are not in control ... Happy May Day."

An FBI informant in Cleveland was able to notify law enforcement about a plot to blow up a bridge over Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Occupy Cleveland officially denies involvement in the terror plot, despite the fact that Brain Baxter, Douglas Wright, and others were active participants in the movement.

Police in Seattle seized a number of items from Occupiers, including bombs, rocks, pry bars, hammers, poles, and bags of feces. Poop bombs. Seattle police recovered poop bombs from these supposed peaceful protesters.

Stories like these have come in from major cities all over the nation. An interesting observation is that most (if not all) of the mainstream media coverage mentions ‘peaceful protest’ in one sentence and ‘multiple arrests’ in the next. If these were really peaceful protests, we’d have a major, national scandal on our hands, because our right to peacefully assemble is right there in the first amendment of the Constitution. People living under dictatorships aren’t allowed to protest the government, but Americans are.

Then again, if these protests were peaceful, we wouldn’t be dealing with smashed windows, graffitied storefronts, dented cars, fake poison, or poop bombs.

The truth is that Occupy Wall Street has a long history of violence, rape, squatting, and disruptive behavior in general. The longer people condone this abhorrent activity, the longer it will continue. Grow up, Occupiers. The adults defecate in the toilet, not on police cars.

I will have to say that the Buffalo occupiers were pretty peaceful. Only one yelled at me when I refused his brochure. They were lucky too, because we had a mild winter. I dont think Buffalo would of tolerated that shit as liberal as they are.

I wish they would pepper spray all these idiots in the damn face. I hate them all

I live in the Seattle area.  No, this is not made up.  No cops were lying or stretching the truth.

The point Jenny is trying to make is not that there weren't peaceful protestors, because there were, many more than the violent ones.

She's just asking why the major media outlets weren't reporting it.

Even if this group started out with the right message, it completely is lost now.  I have no respect for this group who talks about government waste and in turn causes so much waste in tax dollars to clean up behind them.  I know in my area (DC) the cost of in the millions.  Such a waste.

Zand, it cost our city money, but the occupiers after they were kicked out, came back and replanted and seeded the lawn that they destroyed.

Oh Texas, I didn't expect anything different. Your mastery of clicking and pasting and underlining quotes in an effort to outwit people is evidence of your room temperature IQ.

I don't know what your problem is but I am sure it is hard to pronounce.

I can't wait to see my comment pasted into yours!

OMG. The planets have aligned. The world is coming to an end! I actually agree with Jenny on something. Mark your calendars, people!

These OWS people just annoy me to no end. Almost as much as the nut job protesters I see at the Pentagon- was so happy when those damn hippies got arrested.

First, before I read any more of the article or any of the comments, take a good long look at your sentence:

"Occupy Cleveland officially denies involvement in the terror plot, despite the fact that Brain Baxter, Douglas Wright, and others were active participants in the movement."

That sounds very similar to how you said that the Tea Party isn't a bunch of racists and homophobes, just a select few and they do not represent the movement as a whole. It's almost hilarious how much of a f-ing hypocrite you are.

Awww dreabug - We pretty much posted the same thing! :) I'm glad you noticed that little tidbit too.

Anyway, I agree with their overall message. I don't agree with how SOME of them are trying to spread that message. I don't support violence period.

I also don't support sweeping generalizations about the left, hippies, people in need of a haircut, people who need to shower, what have you. If you want to be a "serious adult", cut out the bullshit statements and come up with your own damn words.
